Tehran, Sep 2026 : Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Wednesday claimed it had carried out a series of retaliatory attacks against US military facilities in Kuwait, Jordan and Iraq, targeting American forces and infrastructure across the region, Iranian media reported.
The IRGC said its forces struck the US Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, which hosts American military personnel, including US Marines. According to a statement carried by Iran's semi-official Tasnim News Agency, the attack targeted the living quarters and command post of the American commander at the base.
The IRGC described the operation as part of its broader campaign against US military positions in the region. It claimed the successful strike demonstrated that Iranian forces possess extensive intelligence regarding US military movements and deployments across the Middle East.
In a separate operation, the IRGC said it launched a ballistic missile attack against Camp Tition, a US Marines facility located near the Gulf of Aqaba in Jordan. Iran's official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that the attack was carried out in retaliation for a US strike on a wedding ceremony in Sirik, Iran.
According to the IRGC statement, the operation in Jordan caused extensive damage to several facilities and helicopters and resulted in heavy casualties among American personnel. The claims could not be independently verified.
The Iranian force also said it targeted a US base in Erbil, in Iraq's Kurdistan region. The IRGC claimed that its Ground Forces destroyed a surveillance balloon control system as well as a maintenance centre and warehouses containing technical equipment.
The attack, according to the statement, was also intended as retaliation for the deaths allegedly caused by the US strike in Sirik. The IRGC further claimed that several US personnel were killed and fuel storage facilities at the facility were set ablaze.
The reported attacks came amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, with Tehran accusing Washington of conducting strikes against civilian and military targets inside Iran. Iranian officials have repeatedly warned that American attacks would trigger retaliatory action against US forces and facilities across the region.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei separately said Wednesday that more than 50 people had been killed or wounded in a US attack on a residential home in Sirik where a wedding ceremony was taking place.
Baqaei condemned the reported strike and said it should be viewed in the context of what he described as a wider series of US attacks in Minab, Lamerd, Qeshm and other locations.
"The United States' catalogue of atrocities against the nation of Iran is now complete," Baqaei said in a post on X, referring to the reported attack on the residential property in Kuhestak, Sirik. He said families had been celebrating a wedding when the home was attacked and alleged that more than 50 men, women and children were killed or wounded.
The Iranian spokesperson accused Washington of attempting to justify military operations against Iran and warned against what he called the normalisation of attacks on civilians.
Baqaei also questioned the response of the international community, arguing that silence or attempts to justify the reported attacks could amount to legitimising them.
He said Iran would respond "with firmness" to what he described as US crimes. Baqaei further warned governments and international institutions that continued silence would not constitute neutrality and could have consequences.
The latest IRGC claims highlight the expanding regional dimension of the confrontation between Tehran and Washington, with US military installations and personnel across the Middle East potentially becoming targets as Iran seeks to retaliate against American operations.
