Beirut, Sep 2026 : The Israeli military on Monday ordered residents of a designated area in Deir Zahrani, southern Lebanon, to evacuate ahead of planned strikes on what it described as a Hezbollah facility.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Hezbollah’s activities had prompted it to take military action, warning residents to leave the targeted area. The army identified the site as a “Hezbollah terrorist facility” but did not provide further details about the planned operation.
The evacuation order came amid renewed tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, with Israeli forces continuing military operations in southern Lebanon despite a US-brokered ceasefire. Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar television later reported Israeli airstrikes in the Deir Zahrani area on Monday.
The latest development followed Israeli strikes across southern Lebanon on Sunday that, according to Lebanese authorities, killed seven people. Israel said those attacks were carried out in response to alleged Hezbollah drone activity and targeted weapons facilities and other military infrastructure belonging to the group.
The continued violence has raised fresh concerns about the durability of the ceasefire and the potential risks to civilians living in southern Lebanon.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has condemned the Israeli strikes and urged the international community to intervene to prevent further escalation. The renewed hostilities have heightened fears of a broader confrontation and increased humanitarian concerns in affected communities.
