Jerusalem, September 2026 : Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday claimed that the regime in Iran was nearing its end and was “fighting for its life”, while warning that Israel still had another major mission to accomplish.

Netanyahu made the remarks during a Rosh Hashanah toast held at a government meeting, where he reviewed what he described as Israel’s major military and strategic achievements and outlined the challenges ahead.

As Israel prepared to mark the Jewish New Year, Netanyahu said the country’s interests remained the government’s top priority. He credited decisions taken by his government, the actions of Israeli forces and the resilience of the Israeli public for what he called significant successes in the country’s ongoing conflicts.

According to remarks released by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, Netanyahu said Israel had emerged stronger while its adversaries had been weakened. He also highlighted cooperation with the United States, saying the two countries had made substantial progress in countering what Israel considers an existential threat.

Netanyahu claimed that Israel had succeeded in pushing back threats posed by nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles and had delivered heavy blows against what he called the Iranian axis in the region.

He reiterated that Israel remained determined to defend itself and strike its enemies, while warning that any Iranian attack could trigger a severe Israeli response.

“I say to our enemies: Do not try us,” Netanyahu said, asserting that Israel was the strongest power in the Middle East and had demonstrated its ability to unite during periods of crisis.

The Israeli Prime Minister also pointed to ongoing operations by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), saying Israeli forces were continuing to target militants around the clock in Lebanon, Gaza, Judea and Samaria.

While describing Israel’s military achievements as significant, Netanyahu stressed that the country’s objectives had not yet been fully achieved.

“The achievements are immense, but there is still more to complete,” he said, identifying the removal of Iran’s current regime as the foremost remaining objective.

Netanyahu said the Iranian leadership was weak, under pressure and struggling to survive. He claimed that the regime’s end was approaching and reiterated his government’s determination to pursue what he described as another critical mission.

“This will permanently change the face of the Middle East and the history of our people,” Netanyahu said, expressing confidence that Israel had both the determination and capability to achieve its objectives.

His comments come amid continuing regional tensions and Israel’s broader confrontation with Iran and Iranian-backed groups. The remarks also underscore Netanyahu’s continued emphasis on confronting Iran as a central component of Israel’s national security strategy.

At the same time, his warning to Israel’s adversaries reflected his government’s stated position that the country would respond forcefully to any threat or attack, while continuing its military operations across multiple fronts.
