Chennai, August 2026 : The makers of the much-awaited Tamil film ‘Sigma’, directed by debutant filmmaker Jason Sanjay and starring Sundeep Kishan in the lead, have announced a new release date for the film. Produced by Lyca Productions, the multilingual project will now arrive in cinemas worldwide on October 2, 2026.
Lyca Productions made the announcement on Tuesday through its social media platforms, urging audiences to mark the date for what it described as an action-packed heist. The film was earlier scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on July 31, but its release was subsequently postponed.
The production house wrote on social media, “Mark the date for the heist on October 2. #SIGMA is all set to light up the screens.”
The announcement comes months after the film successfully completed its shooting schedule. The makers had wrapped up principal photography in December last year and subsequently shared behind-the-scenes glimpses from the final day of filming. The production house had also announced that the film's teaser would be released later that month.
Sundeep Kishan had earlier confirmed that he had completed dubbing for his portions of the film. In a social media post in July, the actor had expressed excitement over the project and mentioned the then-planned July 31 release.
‘Sigma’ has generated considerable interest as it marks the directorial debut of Jason Sanjay, son of actor and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. The film is being positioned as an action-packed adventure that combines heist elements with humour, mystery and emotion.
According to sources, actress Catherine Tresa will feature alongside Sundeep Kishan in a vibrant song composed by music director Thaman. The high-energy track has reportedly been filmed on an expansive and colourful set and is expected to be one of the visual highlights of the movie.
The first-look poster of Sundeep Kishan presented the actor in a rugged and intense avatar, offering audiences a glimpse into the film's adventurous world. The story revolves around a maverick protagonist who refuses to follow conventional paths and builds his own journey through determination, resilience and courage.
The film reportedly blends high-octane heist thrills with humour and emotional elements, promising a distinctive treatment within mainstream Tamil cinema. Its treasure-hunt backdrop is expected to add an element of mystery and adventure to the narrative.
‘Sigma’ also features a strong technical crew, with Krishnan Vasant handling cinematography, Praveen K.L. serving as editor and Benjamin M. working as the art director.
The film has been shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, expanding its reach beyond the Tamil-speaking market. The production travelled across a diverse range of locations, including the bustling streets of Chennai, the rugged landscapes of Salem, the scenic Thalakona forests and exotic locations in Thailand.
With its new October 2 release date, the makers are expected to begin intensifying promotional activities in the coming weeks.
