Mumbai, September 2026 : Veteran actor Sharat Saxena has undergone a six-hour spine surgery at the age of 76 and shared an update on his recovery with fans on Friday.
Despite undergoing the lengthy procedure, Saxena appeared to be in high spirits as he posted a series of photographs from his hospital stay and his journey back home. The actor shared the update on social media with the caption, “6 hour spine surgery- done CAN’T KEEP A GOOD MAN DOWN.”
The photographs showed Saxena resting on a hospital bed shortly after the surgery, smiling for the camera while surrounded by family members and friends. Another picture captured him sitting in a car while returning home with his friends.
Saxena also shared a cheerful photograph from what appeared to be a small celebration, accompanied by the words, “PARTY TODAY GYM TOMORROW,” reflecting his determination to resume his fitness routine following his recovery.
In another hospital photograph, the actor used his characteristic humour to write, “NO MORE SOUP!!!” while another image carried the message, “NO MORE WALKING STICK!!!”
The latest update comes days after Saxena had shared photographs of himself undergoing a standing MRI at a hospital ahead of his lumbar spine surgery. At the time, he captioned the post, “Standing mri before lumbar spine surgery at Bombay Hospital.”
The actor was seen secured inside an upright MRI machine while undergoing the scan as part of his medical evaluation before the surgery.
Saxena, who recently turned 76, has long been admired not only for his acting career but also for his remarkable physical fitness. Born on August 17, 1950, the actor has maintained a disciplined fitness routine well into his seventies.
In earlier interviews, Saxena had spoken about his workout regimen, revealing that he could train for around two hours a day. He had recalled that a 20-minute workout would leave him exhausted when he was younger, while later in life he was able to exercise for much longer periods and still feel energetic.
Saxena has enjoyed a career spanning more than five decades and has appeared in over 250 films in Hindi and other Indian languages. He is particularly recognised for playing powerful supporting and villainous characters.
His notable films include Mr. India, Tridev, Ghayal, Khiladi, Ghulam, Gupt: The Hidden Truth, Phir Hera Pheri, Baghban, Fanaa, Krrish and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
