Seven PAC companies and more than 3,000 police personnel deployed
Elaborate security arrangements put in place for Union Home Minister Amit Shah and CM Yogi Adityanath
Strict vigil maintained along routes, helipad, entry gates, galleries, halls, major roads, high-rise buildings and sensitive locations
Greater Noida, September 2026: Elaborate security arrangements were put in place at the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS)-2026 and surrounding areas in view of the arrival of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the inauguration of the event.
More than 3,000 police personnel and seven companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) were deployed to maintain security and law and order. Police maintained a close watch over the VIP routes, helipad, entry gates, galleries and exhibition halls. Major roads, high-rise buildings and other sensitive locations around the venue were also brought under heightened security.
The security arrangements included multiple layers of outer and inner cordons, anti-drone measures, teams to respond to any possible demonstrations and traffic management arrangements. The fourth edition of UPITS is being held from September 25 to 29 at the India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida.
Multiple Layers of Security from Outer Perimeter to Venue
Joint Commissioner of Police Rajiv Narayan Mishra said comprehensive security arrangements had been made under the leadership of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh.
The first layer of security comprised the outer cordon. Police personnel were deployed along major routes leading to the venue as well as at locations such as the Ring Road, underpasses, vending zones and Metro stations. Rooftop surveillance was maintained on high-rise buildings, while malls and overbridges were also placed under security watch.
Police teams maintained surveillance over key approach roads and elevated locations around the venue to monitor movement from outside the event area.
Tight Security from Entry Gates to Exhibition Halls
The second layer comprised the inner cordon, under which internal entry gates, galleries and halls of the International Trade Show were secured.
Special police deployment was made along the routes used by Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Entry arrangements inside the venue and VIP movement were continuously monitored.
Helipad and Main Venue Kept Under Separate Security Cover
Under the isolation cordon, the helipad and main event venue were placed under separate security arrangements. Movement and access to these areas were closely monitored, with special attention paid to prescribed security protocols.
This ensured that key areas associated with VIP movement remained protected by an additional layer of security.
Border Checks and Anti-Drone Surveillance
As part of the district-level internal security plan, border checking, route deployment, rooftop surveillance and anti-drone duties were also activated.
Teams were deployed to respond to any possible demonstration or disruption. Traffic management arrangements were simultaneously put in place to ensure smooth movement during VIP travel.
Anti-Demonstration Teams Deployed at Key Locations
Under the anti-demonstration security arrangement, teams were deployed at identified locations including Pari Chowk, Surajpur, Mahamaya Flyover and Sector 14.
These teams were tasked with ensuring an immediate police response in the event of any possible protest, demonstration or unexpected situation.
Safe House and Safe Hospital Arrangements
The security plan also included arrangements for a safe house and safe hospital. These facilities were kept ready to provide secure locations and medical assistance in the event of an emergency.
Joint CP Rajiv Narayan Mishra said security was strengthened along every possible approach route from outside the venue as well as at elevated locations in the surrounding areas.
He said the security arrangements were not limited to the trade show premises but extended to adjoining areas and routes being used for VIP movement.
For a major international event such as UPITS, traffic management was also an important component of the overall security plan. The state government had made comprehensive arrangements covering security, law and order, traffic, parking and crowd management ahead of the event.
