“Thane Cracks Down: Illegal Bars and Drug Spots Evicted”

Thane : Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has taken an ambitious decision to make the entire state of Maharashtra drug-free and has directed the administration to take concrete action in this regard. Following the order of Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao, actions have been taken to evict pubs, bars, and illegal constructions selling narcotics in the Thane Municipal area. As part of this operation, a total of 31 stalls were seized within 100 meters of schools and colleges in the municipal area. Actions were also taken at 8 places, including hotels, pubs, bars, and 9 sheds.

In Pune, cases of young people taking drugs have been reported. In response, Chief Minister Shinde has given strict instructions to dismantle unauthorized pubs, bars, and drug-selling centers in all cities in the state. This directive is being implemented statewide. Commissioner Saurabh Rao has ordered action against pubs and bars in Thane, coordinated by the Ward Committees. The operation commenced today with the involvement of the Deputy Commissioner of the Encroachment Control and Eviction Department, Assistant Commissioners, and police presence.

Actions taken included:

  • Panchsheel Bar, Indian Taste Bar, unauthorized stalls, and gutkha vendors in Wagle Ward Committee jurisdiction.
  • The Secret Bar and Hookah Parlor, and establishments in Kothari Compound in Vartaknagar Ward Committee area.
  • Social House Pub for unauthorized construction and illegal drinking water provision.
  • Sealing of stalls within 100 meters of Rajshree Shahu Maharaj Vidyalaya, Dnyaneshwarnagar, and Gnanodaya Vidyalaya in Lokmanya Savarkarnagar Ward Committee.
  • Removal of stalls within 100 meters of K.Villa school in Rabodi.
  • Demolition of Khushi Ladies Bar and Mayuri Ladies Bar on Ghodbunder Road and unauthorized bars in Chitalsar Manpada, Sinewander area, and Swagat Bar in Kapurbavadi under Majivada Manpada Ward Committee.
  • Confiscation of unauthorized stalls near AP Shah College in Kapurbavadi.
  • Demolition of unauthorized hotels and bars under Naupada Kopri Ward Committee.
  • Sealing of stalls with anti-smoking materials found in Kopari area.
  • Actions against stalls and unauthorized bars within 100 meters of school premises in Kalwa Ward Committee.
  • Concrete actions against stalls, unauthorized hotels, and bars within 100 meters of schools in Diva Ward Committee.

These actions were carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner 2 Prashant Rode, Deputy Commissioner of Encroachment Control and Eviction Department G.G. Godepure, Deputy Commissioner Manish Joshi of Circle 1, Deputy Commissioner of Circle 2 Shankar Patole, Deputy Commissioner of Circle 3 Dinesh Taide, Deputy Commissioner of Police Amar Singh Jadhav, Joint Commissioner of Police Dnyaneshwar Chavan, and Assistant Commissioners of all ward committees of the Municipal Corporation.

According to Deputy Commissioner G.G. Godepure, this action will continue until all unauthorized hotels, pubs, bars, and stalls in the municipal jurisdiction are completely expelled.
