UP Police Nabs Two Suspects in Rohit Pandey Murder Case, Each with Rs 25,000 Bounty

Ballia/Bahraich/Lucknow : Following CM Yogi’s stern rebuke regarding Rohit Pandey’s murder in broad daylight in front of Bansdih Kotwali gate in Ballia, both police and administration sprang into action on Tuesday. 

The police arrested two suspects with bounties of ₹25,000 each on their heads and forwarded them to judicial custody, while the main suspect, Rohit Yadav, surrendered in court along with an associate. 

The administration demolished the housed of the main suspect and his two associates, as parts of their houses were built on PWD land. Additionally, two constables were suspended for allegedly hobnobbing with the accused. 

In Bahraich, nine individuals charged with molesting a girl and disturbing the peace were arrested and forwarded to jail, with actions being taken against them under the Goonda Act.

On Saturday, in front of Bansdih Kotwali Gate, a gang of youths attacked Rohit Pandey in a fight for supremacy, killing him with sharp weapons. Based on a complaint, the police named six individuals in the case and filed an FIR against several unknown persons. 

During a review meeting in Azamgarh on Monday, MLA Ketki Singh informed CM Yogi about the incident. The CM reprimanded officials and ordered strict action. 

Following this, area youths demonstrated at the SP office demanding arrests. Consequently, the police announced a Rs 25,000  reward on each named suspect. 

During the raid, police arrested two suspects, Ankit Yadav, son of Shukul Yadav from Daranv, and Omprakash Yadav, alias Prakash Yadav, son of Ramesh Yadav from Pindhara, each with a bounty of ₹25,000. 

Meanwhile, Rohit Yadav, alias ‘Rider’, son of Bhuteshwar Yadav from Daranv, and Shekhar Yadav, son of Kamlesh Yadav from Daranv, surrendered in court. 

Police are continuing raids to arrest the remaining suspects, Jawahar Gond, son of Vijay Gond from Pindhara, and Dharmendra Yadav, alias Bagi Yadav, son of Raja Yadav from Daranv.

The administration demolished the houses of the main accused, Rohit Yadav, and his associates, Shekhar Yadav and Ankit Yadav. 

SDM Bansdih stated, “Parts of the houses of all three accused were built on PWD land, which has been razed. The houses of the other accused are being measured with the help of the revenue team, and further action will be taken based on the findings.” 

Bansdih CO Prabhat Kumar added, “Four teams were formed to arrest the murder suspects. Two have already been apprehended, and multiple SOG surveillance and police teams are pursuing the remaining suspects.”

On Tuesday, the house of the main accused, Rohit Yadav alias Rider, built on government land along the road, was measured and found to be illegally constructed. His illegal construction has been demolished, and the illegal properties of the other accused are being identified.

Additionally, two constables, Aslam and Dheeraj Maurya, who had friendly relations with the accused, have been suspended. 

The Additional Superintendent of Police North has been ordered to conduct a departmental inquiry to identify the negligent officers who failed to take timely preventive action. Action will be taken against the accused under the Gangster Act and NSA.

*Police to file chargesheet framed in molestation case*

The police will file chargesheet in court within three days, and the trial will be conducted in a fast-track court in the case of molestation, which took place in the weekly market in Budhawa, in the Nanpura police station area on July 21.

On the evening of July 21st, some miscreants molested a girl at the weekly market in Budhwa, located in the Nanpara police station area of Bahraich. The girl’s family and neighbours objected to the family of the accused, leading to a fight between the two sides, during which members of the girl’s family were injured. 

SP Vrinda Shukla stated, “Upon receiving information about the incident, Nanpara police responded, but the accused had already fled. After ensuring the victim received medical treatment, the police filed a report against nine suspects based on the complaint. A special team was formed to arrest the accused, resulting in all nine being apprehended within a day and a half: Salman Qureshi, son of Kalim Qureshi; Aslam Qureshi, son of Kalim Qureshi; Ibrahim, son of Haleem; Haleem Qureshi, son of Razzab Ali; Gulfan, son of Changul alias Naeem; Rish, son of Hanif alias Barsaati; Abrar, son of Israr; Shamsher, son of Sharif; and Mubarak Ali, son of Ali Ahmed, all residents of Bodhwa village, Kotwali Nanpara police station.”

The SP mentioned, “To ensure the harshest punishment for the accused, the SC/ST bench will be requested to conduct the trial in a fast-track court to expedite justice. Additionally, all accused will face action under the Goonda Act. The police will file a charge sheet within three days to ensure swift justice for the victim.”
