We Will Strive to Make a Difference in the Lives of Common People – Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Nagpur : Through the sacrifices of many, we gained our freedom after a long struggle, with countless individuals enduring severe hardships. As India continues its journey of independence, we have now achieved a significant milestone by becoming the world’s fifth-largest economy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to the development of the common man under the vision of a ‘Developed India.’ Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized that the government is intensifying its efforts to bring about meaningful change in the lives of the common people while reaching various stages of progress.

He made these remarks at the main government flag hoisting ceremony held at the Divisional Commissioner’s office in celebration of the 77th anniversary of Indian Independence. The event was attended by Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidri, Additional Commissioner Madhavi Chavre-Khode, Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Singal, Special Inspector General of Police Dr. Dilip Patil – Bhujbal, Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Chaudhary, Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Saumya Sharma, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ashwati Dorje, Superintendent of Police Harsh Poddar, along with freedom fighters, senior citizens, and other dignitaries.

The state government, in collaboration with the central government, has placed great emphasis on implementing various activities and schemes. As a result, Maharashtra’s progress has accelerated towards becoming a trillion-dollar economy, achieving the top rank in all of India. The progress made by the state is evident to all, and we are witnessing this period of development, marked by key projects like highways, mega textile projects, the metro, and various irrigation initiatives. The Vainganga-Nalganga project, with an investment of around 88 thousand crores, has been undertaken to eliminate drought in Vidarbha. Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis expressed confidence that this project will significantly benefit the region. He also expressed satisfaction with securing over 5 thousand crores in foreign investment over the past three years.

The state government has made commendable decisions and initiatives, focusing on welfare. Under the Ladki Bahin Yojana, we are providing Rs. 1,500 per month, benefiting more than one crore women by the 17th of this month, including 5 lakh women from Nagpur district.

We have launched the Chief Minister Youth Training Scheme, offering stipends of approximately 6,000, 8,000, and 10,000 rupees to registered youth. We have also decided to provide free electricity to farmers and cover the fees for 500 courses for girls. Under the PM Suryaghar Yojana, those who install solar panels on their homes will receive 300 units of free electricity. Any excess electricity generated will be purchased by our electricity corporation.

Approximately 3 lakh farmers have been allocated Rs. 278 crore under the one-rupee insurance scheme. In the health sector, we are creating various medical facilities with a fund of around Rs. 1,000 crore for development works at Mayo, Indira Gandhi Medical College, and other institutions. We have secured Rs. 683 crore for the Metro and Rs. 550 crore for the Nag River from the central government. Additionally, we have approved 35,750 beneficiaries in the district under the Pradhan Mantri Gharkul Yojana. In the Modi Awas Yojana for OBCs, 6,747 houses have been sanctioned, with 1,054 already completed. We have allocated Rs. 1,219 crore for Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan and Tribal Component Schemes in Nagpur district. We have also constructed a state-of-the-art sports complex and are building a new administrative building at a cost of Rs. 272 crore to strengthen the administration through the Collector’s office.

He expressed hope that this initiative would be more effectively implemented with public participation under the “Ek Vriksha Mate” campaign.

On this occasion, dignitaries from various fields were felicitated by him. Recipients of the President’s Medal, Special Service Medal, and other distinguished awards were honored, as well as officers and employees who excelled in their duties, such as those involved in the Agniveer Army Recruitment Mela and the Mahaavas Yojana Abhiyan 2023-24. After the flag hoisting, Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis engaged with the senior citizens present at the event.
