New Delhi, September 2026 : The newly constituted Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held its first meeting on Thursday. The meeting, chaired by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal at his residence, was attended by the party's new PAC members from Punjab, including Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.
AAP leader and Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia said the meeting primarily focused on preparations for the upcoming elections in Punjab, Goa and Gujarat. He said the people of Punjab were satisfied with the work of the Bhagwant Singh Mann government and wanted to see him return as Chief Minister, while people in Goa and Gujarat were seeking a change after what he described as dissatisfaction with BJP governance.
Speaking about the discussions at the PAC meeting, Sisodia said the first issue taken up was the unexpected victory in Rajasthan's Baran. He said the way people in Baran had rejected BJP policies had raised expectations that voters were looking for an alternative.
Sisodia said Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann and he would soon visit Baran and hold a roadshow there.
The second major discussion focused on the elections in Punjab, Goa and Gujarat and the party's preparations for them. Sisodia said the organisation was working effectively and claimed that people in Punjab wanted the AAP government to return to power. He also said voters in Goa and Gujarat were seeking a change and that the PAC discussed ways to convert this sentiment into electoral gains.
The third issue discussed at the meeting was the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). Sisodia criticised what he described as a decision taken by the government under pressure from US President Donald Trump. He claimed that people across the country would feel burdened if they had to pay fees to spend their own money through UPI.
Drawing a comparison with physical currency, Sisodia said that when the Reserve Bank of India issues a Rs 100 note, a person holding it can spend it as Rs 100 without paying an additional amount to use the note. He questioned why additional charges should be imposed on digital transactions through UPI.
Sisodia alleged that the decision would benefit American companies and said the AAP would raise the issue through the party and its organisational machinery.
Sisodia Raises Allegations Over Fake Votes
Another major issue discussed at the PAC meeting, according to Sisodia, was a media report concerning alleged irregularities in voter registration during the previous Delhi Assembly election.
Sisodia alleged that fake votes were created in the New Delhi Assembly constituency shortly before the election. He claimed that multiple voter registrations were allegedly made at individual addresses and accused the Election Commission of facilitating the process.
He further said that after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, many of these names had been removed. Sisodia claimed that some of the voters registered shortly before the election were found to be fake during the SIR process. He questioned what action the Election Commission would take in response to the allegations.
On preparations for the Punjab Assembly election, Sisodia said the AAP was fully prepared. He claimed that people were satisfied with the work of the Bhagwant Mann government and wanted the party to return to power.
Sisodia also alleged that if the Mann government was not returned, traditional political parties could bring back problems such as drug abuse, corruption, irregularities in employment and exploitation of traders. He said people in Punjab did not want to return to what he described as the earlier political era.
Sisodia said the AAP National Council had held a meeting a few days earlier, following which the National Executive constituted the new PAC. Arvind Kejriwal was appointed its convenor, while several new members were also inducted into the committee.
