Andhra Pradesh MPTC, ZPTC Election Counting Begins Saturday; Results Expected by Evening

Nov 2026 : Vote counting for the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) elections in Andhra Pradesh will begin at 8 am on Saturday, November 7. The State Election Commission (SEC) has completed arrangements for counting across the state, with results expected to emerge progressively through the day.

Excluding seats won unanimously, votes will be counted for approximately 7,767 MPTC and 582 ZPTC seats. The elections were held on November 5, with polling conducted from 7 am to 5 pm through ballot papers. Pink ballot papers were used for MPTC elections, while white ballot papers were used for ZPTC polls.

According to the final figures released by the SEC, the state recorded an overall voter turnout of 70.72 per cent. Visakhapatnam district registered the highest polling percentage at 82.51 per cent, while Alluri Sitharama Raju district recorded the lowest at 62.01 per cent. Srikakulam recorded 65.51 per cent, Anakapalli 75.58 per cent, Chittoor 76.30 per cent and Krishna 73.21 per cent.

Re-polling was conducted on November 6 in five mandals due to rain and flood-related disruptions. Re-polling was also required at a few other locations because of technical issues. Officials said the exercise concluded peacefully.

Extensive Arrangements for Counting

The SEC has established 365 counting centres across 28 districts, with more than 9,000 counting tables. Between 30,000 and 40,000 personnel, including over 11,000 supervisors, will be deployed for the exercise.

CCTV cameras have been installed at counting centres, while Section 144 will remain in force to maintain law and order. Ballot boxes are being shifted from strong rooms to the designated centres under heavy security.

Postal ballots will be counted first, before the formal counting process begins at 8 am. Subsequently, ballot boxes will be opened in the presence of candidates' agents.

As MPTC and ZPTC votes will be segregated and counted manually, the process is expected to take several hours. Initial trends are likely to become available around noon or later. MPTC results are expected by approximately 3 pm, while ZPTC results may be declared by around 7 pm.

Seat-wise results will continue to be announced into the night. District- and mandal-wise updates will be available on the State Election Commission's website, sec.ap.gov.in, and through Telugu media channels.
