Bihan and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana Help Savita Rajak Realise Her Dreams; Earns ₹10,000 a Month from Goat Rearing

Financial assistance of ₹50,000 and a ₹1 lakh Mudra loan helped her launch a self-employment venture, strengthening her family's financial stability.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, women’s self-reliance is being promoted, with Savita becoming an inspiration for other women in her village.

Raipur, October 2026 : The Chhattisgarh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, is making continuous efforts to empower women financially and promote self-reliance. Through various welfare schemes of the Central and state governments, rural women are being provided with opportunities for self-employment. These initiatives are helping women strengthen their livelihoods while contributing to their families' well-being and their children's brighter futures.

Savita Rajak, a resident of Chedardand village in Duldula development block of Jashpur district, is an inspiring example of this transformation. With support from the Bihan scheme and the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, she has established goat rearing as a reliable source of livelihood.

Dream of Self-Reliance Amid Financial Challenges

Coming from an ordinary rural family, Savita had always wanted to improve her family's financial condition and provide her children with a good education. However, limited financial resources made it difficult to meet the family's needs. Instead of surrendering to these challenges, she resolved to take initiative and build a better future through her own efforts.

To pursue this goal, she joined a women's village organisation under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (Bihan) and took her first steps towards self-employment.

Her association with the organisation opened up opportunities for financial assistance. Through the organisation, she received financial support of ₹50,000 and a loan of ₹1 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana. With total financial assistance of ₹1.5 lakh, she started her goat-rearing business.

Through hard work, dedication and effective management, Savita gradually developed the enterprise into a source of income for her family.

Goat Rearing Generates Monthly Income of ₹10,000

Today, Savita earns approximately ₹10,000 every month from goat rearing. Once concerned about meeting her family's financial needs, she now contributes from her earnings towards her children's education and everyday household expenses.

The financial stability gained through self-employment has also boosted her confidence. She is working towards expanding her business and creating better income opportunities in the future.

Savita says the Bihan scheme and the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana gave her the opportunity to start her own enterprise. The assistance provided through these initiatives played a significant role in turning her dream of self-reliance into reality.

She expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the state government, saying that government schemes were enabling rural women to move forward and strengthen their families financially.

Ujjwala, PM Awas and Mahtari Vandan Schemes Improve Family Life

In addition to the benefits of self-employment, Savita's family has also received assistance under other government welfare schemes.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the family received an LPG gas connection, making cooking more convenient. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana helped the family obtain a permanent house, providing safer and better living conditions. Meanwhile, the Mahtari Vandan Yojana provides financial assistance of ₹1,000 every month.

Together, these schemes have brought positive changes to the family's life. While goat rearing provides a regular source of income, housing assistance, cooking gas and monthly financial support have helped meet essential household needs.

An Inspiration for Rural Women

Savita Rajak's success demonstrates that rural women can become successful entrepreneurs when they have access to the right opportunities, financial support and determination.

The Bihan scheme's support for women's groups, combined with financial assistance for self-employment under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, is helping create new livelihood opportunities and strengthen the rural economy.

Today, Savita is not only contributing to her family's financial security but has also become a source of inspiration for other women in her village. Her journey highlights how self-reliance can begin with small initiatives and grow through sustained effort.

By combining government support with personal determination, rural women can realise their aspirations and play an important role in the economic progress of their families and communities.
