Patna, October 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday launched the Rabi Maha Abhiyan 2026 by flagging off farmer awareness vehicles from a platform outside the ‘Samvad’ hall at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister flagged off a total of 40 vehicles, including 38 farmer awareness vehicles and two knowledge vehicles. These vehicles will travel to different parts of Bihar to disseminate information about Agriculture Department schemes, modern farming technologies and improved agricultural practices.
The primary objective of the campaign is to educate farmers about scientific methods of cultivating Rabi crops, ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of government agricultural schemes, and encourage the adoption of modern farming techniques.
During the campaign, farmers will receive information on improved cultivation practices for wheat, maize, pulses and oilseeds, the use of quality agricultural inputs, and better farm management techniques.
The campaign will also focus on informing eligible farmers about subsidies available through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and crop demonstration programmes conducted under various Agriculture Department schemes. Efforts will be made to ensure the distribution of agricultural inputs at subsidised rates at the block level and improve farmers’ access to modern agricultural machinery.
To increase wheat production and productivity, farmers will be encouraged to adopt advanced sowing techniques using zero-tillage and seed-drill machines. They will also be informed about the benefits of these technologies, including lower cultivation costs, more efficient use of resources and improved farm operations.
A series of activities will be organised during the campaign to spread awareness and technical knowledge among farmers. These will include farmer fairs, farmer schools, training programmes, agricultural tours, field days and farmer meetings.
The Krishi Jan Kalyan Chaupal-cum-Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026 will also be used to discuss farmers’ concerns and provide them with information about agriculture-related schemes and facilities.
The campaign will promote balanced fertiliser management, soil health conservation, soil testing, natural and organic farming, and the use of drone technology in agricultural operations. Farmers will be encouraged to use fertilisers according to soil quality, adopt environmentally friendly farming practices and improve crop productivity through scientific techniques.
The Rabi Maha Abhiyan 2026 aims to ensure the effective implementation of agricultural schemes across Bihar, expand the use of modern farming technologies and provide farmers with timely information and essential support.
The initiative is expected to help increase agricultural production and productivity, make farming more profitable and strengthen the financial condition of farmers across the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Agriculture Department Principal Secretary Narmadeshwar Lal, Chief Minister’s Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, Agriculture Department Director Mukesh Kumar Lal and other senior officials were present at the launch.
