First meeting after organisational reshuffle to review poll preparations, state-level coordination and party programmes
New Delhi, Sept 2026 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold the first meeting of its newly appointed state in-charges and co-in-charges at its national headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday, with party president Nitin Nabin set to chair the deliberations.
The meeting comes days after the BJP announced a major organisational reshuffle covering all 28 states and eight Union Territories. The new appointments are expected to form the basis of the party’s organisational and electoral planning in the months ahead.
According to party sources, the discussions are likely to focus on strengthening the organisation, reviewing ongoing programmes and preparing for upcoming Assembly elections. The leadership is also expected to assess organisational activities and outreach initiatives in different states and examine coordination between the central and state units.
The gathering will mark the first collective interaction of the newly appointed functionaries following the organisational changes announced on September 23. It is expected to provide the state in-charges and co-in-charges an opportunity to receive guidance from the central leadership and outline their priorities for their respective states and Union Territories.
The reshuffle included several significant changes in the BJP’s organisational structure. National general secretary Smriti Irani was assigned responsibility for Haryana and Chhattisgarh, while BJP vice-president Ram Madhav was given charge of Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand. Vinod Tawde was appointed Uttar Pradesh in-charge, while Sunil Bansal was given responsibility for West Bengal and Telangana.
For Delhi, senior BJP leader Vinay Sahasrabuddhe was appointed in-charge, with Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Darshana Jardosh named as co-in-charges.
The party also made changes to its communications structure. Senior leader Anil Baluni was appointed coordinator of the BJP’s Communications Department, which oversees the party’s media and social-media outreach. Ashish Usha Agrawal, who had recently been appointed co-convenor of the national media department, was elevated as its convenor.
The organisational reshuffle comes ahead of a series of Assembly elections and at a time when the BJP is reviewing its state-level structures and campaign preparedness. The party has already begun organisational meetings in states where elections and other political activities are approaching.
The new state in-charges are expected to play a key role in coordinating the party’s central leadership with state units, monitoring organisational programmes and assisting in election-related planning.
The September 29 meeting is therefore expected to serve as an initial briefing and coordination exercise for the newly appointed functionaries. It will also provide the central leadership with an opportunity to take stock of organisational priorities across states and Union Territories as the BJP prepares for the next phase of its political and organisational programmes.
