New Courses in AI and Machine Learning Planned at ITIs and Polytechnics; Quality Council of India Conducts Third-Party Assessment of Polytechnic Institutions

Raipur, October 2026: The Chhattisgarh government is taking steps to improve employment opportunities for young people by equipping them with skills that match the evolving requirements of industries. The state aims to go beyond academic qualifications by providing students with modern technological knowledge, practical training and employment-oriented skills.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of Guru Khushwant Saheb, Minister for Skill Development, Technical Education and Employment, the department has initiated collaborations with reputed industrial and training organisations, introduced plans for new technical courses and undertaken measures to improve the quality of training institutions.

MoUs with four organisations to strengthen training

At the conclusion of the two-day State-Level Employment Fair 2026, the department initiated Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with four organisations to enhance the employability of young people. The partnerships aim to provide students with training tailored to actual industry requirements and improve their prospects of securing jobs.

Through collaboration with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), students of engineering colleges will receive specialised training. The programme will be offered free of cost under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, helping students gain exposure to modern technologies and practical skills used in industry.

Similarly, the Adani Group will support industry-oriented training for students of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), polytechnics and engineering colleges. The initiative is expected to strengthen technical capabilities and expand employment opportunities in the industrial sector.

The department is also working with the Nandi Foundation to provide training in soft skills, spoken English, interview preparation and personality development. More than 6,000 students were trained through the foundation last year. This year, students from ITIs, polytechnics and skill development programmes are expected to receive approximately 48 to 50 hours of training.

In addition, the department is pursuing partnerships with organisations to provide trade-specific skill training at Jungle Safari, creating further opportunities for practical learning across different fields.

Quality assessment of polytechnic institutions

To improve the standard of education and training at polytechnic colleges across the state, a third-party assessment has been conducted through the Quality Council of India.

The assessment examined academic standards, training arrangements, infrastructure and other essential facilities available at the institutions.

The assessment report was released during the concluding ceremony of the employment fair in the presence of Chief Minister Sai, Technical Education Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb, Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma and other dignitaries.

The report includes recommendations for improving institutional quality and making training systems more effective. Based on these findings, the government will prepare an action plan for the development and modernisation of polytechnic colleges, with the objective of providing students with better educational facilities and quality technical training.

New courses in artificial intelligence and machine learning

The state government is placing special emphasis on making technical education responsive to the present and future needs of industry.

As part of this effort, existing courses at ITIs and polytechnics are being reviewed to identify outdated or less relevant programmes and introduce new employment-oriented courses. Subjects related to artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and other modern technologies are being included in the planned curriculum.

The courses are expected to equip students with updated technological knowledge and practical capabilities, enabling them to benefit from emerging employment opportunities in a rapidly changing industrial environment.

Digital employment portal to become a skill marketplace

The department is also working towards developing its digital employment portal into a comprehensive skill marketplace.

The proposed platform will bring together information on industry requirements, job vacancies across different sectors and young people seeking employment. Candidates will be able to apply online according to their qualifications and skills, while industries and employers will be able to identify and select suitable trained candidates.

The initiative aims to make recruitment simpler, more transparent and more efficient.

Through industry partnerships, modern curricula, digital employment services and improved training standards, the Chhattisgarh government seeks to strengthen technical education, expand job opportunities and help the state’s youth become self-reliant and economically empowered.
