Lunglei, November 2026: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma today launched an educational initiative titled “Lunglei Gen-AI Mission: Lunglei's Gen-Alpha, Empowered by AI” at Government High School, Lunglei. The programme aims to familiarise students across Lunglei district with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and train them to use the technology effectively.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma appreciated the initiative undertaken jointly by the Lunglei District Deputy Commissioner, CodeYogi Foundation and the District Education Office to equip students with knowledge and skills related to Artificial Intelligence.
He said the Lunglei Gen-AI Mission was important because it would introduce students to the fundamentals of AI through a structured course, beginning with its basic concepts.
The Chief Minister observed that the world was increasingly moving alongside AI. Since Google Translate introduced the Mizo language in 2022, people speaking Mizo had also been able to interact with AI in their own language. The technology had made everyday life considerably easier, he said.
He added that the state government was also steadily adopting modern technology. The government had started implementing e-office systems and was increasingly promoting e-files. Around 40 new online portals had already been launched under the new government, with plans to introduce more.
Pointing out that Mizoram was a fully literate state, had a relatively small population and had a considerable number of English-speaking people, Lalduhoma said there was no reason why the state could not become a Digital State. He said the government was committed to achieving this goal.
The Chief Minister welcomed the initiative taken by the CodeYogi Foundation under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to introduce students in Lunglei district to the fundamentals of AI. He expressed the hope that the initiative would also be extended to other districts.
He noted that Mizoram generally received limited CSR support. To attract greater CSR funding, the state had established a CSR Cell and organised several awareness programmes and conclaves, including programmes outside the state. These efforts had begun yielding results, and he expressed the hope that more people would come forward to contribute to CSR initiatives in Mizoram.
Various Educational Initiatives in Lunglei District Appreciated
The Chief Minister appreciated the various initiatives undertaken by the Lunglei District administration to improve education.
He mentioned that Mizoram's first Cosmic Class had been introduced in Lunglei district, with Astronomy Laboratories established in three schools.
He also highlighted several other initiatives:
Learning Bridges Programme: Learning materials are provided to students who have discontinued their education, enabling them to resume their studies.
Book Nest Initiative: Around 11,000 books and textbooks have been collected and distributed among various rural schools.
Project Period Pride: Awareness and educational activities on menstrual health and hygiene are conducted among girl students.

Support for Children with Special Needs: Efforts are being made to ensure that children with special needs receive appropriate education and assistance according to their requirements.
The Chief Minister said thousands of students had benefited from these initiatives, contributing significantly to the improvement of education standards in Lunglei district.
Students Encouraged to Complete AI Learning Modules
Lalduhoma said the Lunglei Gen-AI Mission had been designed in such a way that students could learn from their homes, making it a productive way to utilise their free time.
He encouraged students to complete all the approximately 30 learning modules with dedication. Emphasising the importance of innovative thinking in the AI era, he urged government employees to focus on possibilities rather than limitations and to continuously adapt to emerging technologies.
Referring to the state's Transformed Mizoram Vision 2047, the Chief Minister said Mizoram aimed to increase its contribution to India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from the present 0.1 per cent to 1 per cent by 2047.
He said all government departments were working towards this target. To ensure better coordination and convergence among departments, meetings were regularly organised with various departments and offices to discuss challenges and suggest solutions. He expressed the hope that a similar meeting would also be organised in Lunglei.
The Chief Minister appreciated the effective utilisation of the District Catalytic Fund by Lunglei district under the District Transformation Programme, an initiative aimed at achieving the state's Vision Mizoram goals. He encouraged government officials to continue implementing the programme effectively.
He also urged government employees to acquire new technological skills, remain updated with emerging developments and adopt a progressive outlook aligned with global advancements so that Mizoram would not be left behind.
ICT Equipment Distributed to Schools
During the programme, the Chief Minister handed over equipment provided under Samagra Shiksha to beneficiary schools. The equipment included computers, printers, projectors and interactive panels (large-screen televisions), along with educational toys under the Thiamna Thul initiative.
Lalduhoma also visited the Skill Laboratory at Government High School, Lunglei, where he observed how students were using computers and other modern technologies as part of their learning.

Malsawmtluanga, Lunglei South MLA Lalramliana Papuia, Lunglei Municipal Council Chairman Lalzuithanga and councillors, Lunglei Deputy Commissioner Navneet Mann, government officials, representatives of voluntary organisations, community leaders, teachers and students attended the programme.
