Mumbai, Oct 2026 : Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff has been provided with police protection following a firing incident targeting him, with investigators examining whether the absence of security before the attack made him vulnerable to the alleged assailants.
According to police sources, Shroff did not have any security cover before the incident. Investigators suspect that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang may have exploited this vulnerability, although the circumstances surrounding the attack and the identity of those responsible remain under investigation.
Police sources said the suspected gang’s possible objectives, based on its alleged involvement in previous criminal activities, could include spreading fear and extorting money. However, officials have stressed that the motive behind the firing has not yet been conclusively established.
Following the incident, the Mumbai Police’s Protection Branch deployed bodyguards for the actor. The local police station has also assigned a police officer and several personnel to ensure his security.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific category of protection granted to Shroff or provided further details about the security arrangements.
In a significant development in the investigation, three alleged shooters suspected of involvement in the attack were detained at Rajasthan’s Kota railway station on Monday while travelling by train.
The detentions were carried out during a joint operation by the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and the Kota City Police. A juvenile is among the three individuals detained in connection with the case.
One of the suspects has been identified as Hritik Kumar, alias Roshan, 22, a resident of Piprai village in Bihar’s Begusarai district. He was reportedly living near Urdu School in Mumbai’s Andheri West and working as a bike rider.
The third suspect has been identified as Rehan, 18, a resident of Sonipat in Haryana. Investigators are examining the backgrounds and possible roles of all three individuals to establish their alleged involvement in the firing incident.
In a related development, Haryana Police questioned Sameer, a friend of Rehan, as part of efforts to gather further information about the case.
According to officials, Sameer had previously been lodged in jail alongside Rehan in connection with a case involving illegal weapons. Police detained him for questioning to determine whether he possessed information relevant to the investigation.
However, officials clarified that Sameer has not been formally arrested in connection with the attack on Shroff. His questioning is part of the ongoing effort to establish the sequence of events and identify any possible links among the individuals under investigation.
Police are continuing to interrogate the three detained suspects and examine the circumstances surrounding their alleged involvement. Investigators are also seeking to establish whether the firing was connected to an organised criminal network and whether any further individuals were involved.
Officials said the three suspects would be taken to Mumbai later on Monday for further investigation.
The case has prompted the Mumbai Police to strengthen security arrangements for Shroff while investigators pursue leads across multiple states. The suspected involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang remains a line of inquiry, and the motive, the precise roles of the detained individuals and the wider circumstances of the attack are yet to be conclusively established.
