Jaipur, September 2026 . Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the resolve of ‘Nagrik Devo Bhava’ lies at the core of every policy and welfare scheme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Guided by this vision, the State Government has prepared a roadmap for the development of the state, under which significant works are being undertaken in all sectors, including water, power, industry, employment and roads. He said that the State Government is committed to ensuring that the benefits of development reach the last mile.
The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for more than 1,000 development works worth over Rs 2,824 crore for the districts of Barmer, Balotra, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Jodhpur, Pali, Phalodi and Sirohi in Jodhpur Division at Bachhdau in Barmer. Of these, foundation stones were laid for 763 works costing more than Rs 2,045 crore, while 250 development works costing Rs 778 crore were inaugurated and dedicated to the people.
Chief Minister makes important announcements-
In view of the situation arising due to low rainfall in Barmer district, the Chief Minister made important announcements to provide relief to farmers, livestock owners and the general public. He announced that emergency drinking water arrangements and water transportation through tankers made during the last summer would continue uninterrupted until December 31. He also announced that, through the District Collector, works costing up to Rs 1 crore could be sanctioned to expedite necessary emergency works in low-rainfall areas. In addition, fodder depots will be established in Barmer, Balotra, Jaisalmer and other affected areas facing fodder shortages, along with arrangements for their smooth operation.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government is working on priority to ensure water security in the state. The Ram Jal Setu Link Project is being expedited. In this project, with an estimated cost of around Rs 1 lakh crore, work orders worth Rs 41,000 crore have so far been issued. He said that the Yamuna Water Project, Narmada Project and Kishau Project will ensure permanent drinking water security for a large section of the state’s population. At the same time, Rajasthan is now moving from being a power-purchasing state towards becoming a power-supplying state.
He said that to ensure the welfare of farmers, the annual assistance provided to farmers in the state under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi has been increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000. So far, more than Rs 14,400 crore has been transferred to more than 76 lakh farmers. In addition, the State Government has provided a subsidy of Rs 61,583 crore to farmers on electricity bills.
He said that the State Government is working to make women self-reliant and economically empowered. So far, more than 18 lakh women have established their identity as Lakhpati Didi and 25,000 women from self-help groups have become Solar Didi. In addition, loans amounting to Rs 928 crore have been provided to more than 57,000 self-help groups. He said that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), 3.82 lakh houses have been completed, while construction of 4.53 lakh houses is in progress.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the State Government not only lays the foundation stone for works but also ensures their inauguration within the stipulated time. In this sequence, 63 works in the power sector worth Rs 405 crore, 10 works in the medical sector worth Rs 197 crore, 87 road-related works worth Rs 125 crore, the Government Nursing College building in Pali constructed at a cost of Rs 21 crore, and 62 works worth more than Rs 10 crore for infrastructure development in rural areas have been completed in Jodhpur Division and dedicated to the people. In addition, works in various sectors, including agriculture, animal husbandry, cooperation, education, hostels, government offices, auditoriums and bus stands, were also inaugurated.
The Chief Minister laid foundation stones for 587 works costing Rs 958 crore to strengthen the road network; works worth Rs 739 crore for providing clean and fluoride-free drinking water in rural areas; 32 works costing Rs 208 crore for strengthening power supply; 46 works worth Rs 50 crore for village development; 29 works worth Rs 42 crore for healthcare services; and 42 works worth Rs 33 crore for school education. Foundation stones were also laid for works related to various other sectors, including agriculture, animal husbandry, Ayurveda and technical education.
Recalling the 1971 war, the Chief Minister said that the indomitable courage and valour of Barmer’s son, Lieutenant General Hanut Singh, had destroyed an entire regiment of 48 Pakistani tanks and shattered their morale.
