Four More Major Projects Announced for Raigarh’s Development
Raigarh, September 2026: A bhoomi pujan and inauguration programme was organised at Sant Pujya Shri Priyadarshi Ram Ji Auditorium at Panjri Plant in Raigarh on Monday to accelerate development works in the district under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. In the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, development works worth a total of Rs 126.92 crore undertaken by the Municipal Corporation and Public Works Department were inaugurated and their foundation stones laid.
Deputy Chief Minister Sao also announced four additional major projects for the development of Raigarh. Finance Minister and Raigarh MLA O.P. Choudhary joined the programme virtually from Delhi. During the event, symbolic keys to completed houses were also handed over to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Work Underway to Develop Raigarh as a Developed District: Deputy CM Sao
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao said Raigarh is progressing rapidly on the path of development and that work is being undertaken at a fast pace to transform the district into a developed district.
He said that under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, the government is not only accelerating development projects but also focusing on providing better civic amenities to residents. He said the Raigarh Municipal Corporation has submitted a list of various development works worth around Rs 10 crore, and approvals for these projects would be obtained soon.
Sao assured that there would be no shortage of funds for the development of Raigarh. He said development projects would be taken up on priority according to the needs of the city.
The Deputy Chief Minister announced four additional projects, including Rs 15.67 crore for the construction and upgradation of Sanjay Market, Rs 5 crore for the development of Ramlila Maidan and construction of a stage and pavilion, Rs 4.99 crore for the conservation and beautification of a pond, and Rs 9.97 crore for sun-lighting work from Kewadabadi to Marine Drive.
Sao said works related to roads, drains, drainage systems, markets, sports facilities and other civic amenities were being given priority in Raigarh. He noted that the city is known not only for its industrial activities but also for its cultural and historical identity.
He said the objective was to improve civic infrastructure through development projects and transform Raigarh into a developed and well-organised city. He directed construction agencies to complete the works expeditiously while maintaining quality standards.
Raigarh Developing in Line with Its Industrial Identity: O.P. Choudhary
Finance Minister and Raigarh MLA O.P. Choudhary, addressing the programme virtually from Delhi, said continuous efforts were being made for the development of Raigarh.
He said that over the past two-and-a-half years, development works worth Rs 384.66 crore had been approved for the Raigarh Municipal Corporation under various schemes. He also mentioned approvals amounting to Rs 1,426 crore through the Public Works Department for various projects in the district, including roads, buildings and bridges.
Choudhary said the process of land acquisition for Raigarh’s ring road had begun. Work was also progressing towards the Raigarh-Gharghoda four-lane road and the Punjipathra-Tamnar four-lane project.
He also highlighted several other road projects, including Tamnar-Urga-Lailunga, Tamnar bypass, Kaya-Kamatra-Charkhapara-Saskoba-Bandhanpur and Kodatarai-Pusaur four-lane roads.
The Finance Minister also provided details of projects such as a sports complex, a music college building and a working women’s hostel in Raigarh. He said the city’s infrastructure was being strengthened in line with its industrial identity.
Lok Sabha MP Radheshyam Rathia, Rajya Sabha MP Devendra Pratap Singh and Raigarh Mayor Jeevardhan Chauhan also addressed the inauguration and foundation-stone laying programme.
District Panchayat President Shikha Ravindra Gabel, Chairman Degree Lal Sahu, Arun Dhar Diwan, Gurupal Bhalla, Subhash Pandey, Shrikant Somawar, Vikas Kedia, Anupam Pal, Jatin Sao, Arun Katore, Pawan Agrawal, Collector Mayank Chaturvedi, Senior Superintendent of Police Shashimohan Singh, Raigarh DFO Arvind PM, District Panchayat CEO Abhijit Baban Pathare, Municipal Corporation councillors and other public representatives were present on the occasion.
