New Delhi : Accelerating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building a disaster-resilient India, a total fund of ₹1,115.67 crore has been approved for landslide risk mitigation and civil defense capacity building in 15 states, including Maharashtra. A high-level committee, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, sanctioned ₹1,000 crore for landslide risk mitigation projects across 15 states, allocating ₹100 crore specifically for Maharashtra.
Additionally, ₹115.67 crore has been approved for the training and capacity building of civil defense volunteers across all states. Earlier, the committee had sanctioned ₹150 crore for glacial lake outburst flood risk management and ₹3,075.65 crore for urban flood management in seven cities.
For disaster management and related activities, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has disbursed over ₹21,476 crore to various states this year. This allocation includes provisions under the State Disaster Response Fund, National Disaster Response Fund, State Disaster Mitigation Fund, and National Disaster Mitigation Fund.
