New Delhi, Aug 2026 : The Indian Air Force (IAF) Band will present a special musical performance at the Public Plaza of Param Yodha Sthal at the National War Memorial in New Delhi on Sunday evening, marking the spirit of Independence Day and celebrating India’s national heritage.
The one-hour performance will be held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will feature a selection of patriotic and soulful compositions aimed at evoking a sense of national pride and unity among the audience.
The event will also commemorate 150 years of India’s National Song, ‘Vande Mataram’, providing an opportunity for citizens to come together and celebrate the country’s rich cultural and national heritage.
According to an official statement, the performance will feature 40 musicians, including 32 Airmen and eight Agniveervayu personnel. The contingent also includes three women musicians, reflecting the growing participation of women in the Indian Air Force.
The IAF Band is expected to perform a repertoire of stirring patriotic numbers and soulful musical compositions. Officials said the energetic presentation would provide visitors with a memorable experience while strengthening the spirit of patriotism associated with the Independence Day celebrations.
Master Warrant Officer A Srihari will serve as the principal conductor of the performance. He will be assisted by Junior Warrant Officer Moon Deka, Junior Warrant Officer Abhishek Paul and Sergeant NT Singh.
The performance at the National War Memorial is part of efforts to connect citizens with the armed forces and highlight the role of music in strengthening national identity and public engagement.
Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force has concluded its participation in Exercise Pitch Black 2026, a major multinational air combat exercise hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force in Australia.
The IAF said its pilots completed the exercise on Friday after participating in intensive multinational air operations designed to strengthen interoperability and combat readiness.
In a message on X, the IAF said the exercise had provided an opportunity to operate alongside partner air forces, exchange operational expertise and refine tactics and procedures under realistic conditions.
The biennial Exercise Pitch Black 2026 was conducted from July 20 to August 7 across Australia’s Northern Territory and Queensland. The exercise brought together 21 participating nations, around 100 aircraft and approximately 2,500 military personnel.
The multinational drills focused on high-end operational training, tactical coordination and the integration of air forces from different countries. The IAF said its participation helped strengthen professional relationships and provided valuable experience in complex air operations.
The completion of Exercise Pitch Black comes as the IAF continues to expand military cooperation with partner nations through multinational exercises and operational exchanges.
While the Independence Day concert will showcase the ceremonial and cultural traditions of the Air Force in Delhi, the successful participation in Exercise Pitch Black highlights its operational capabilities and growing engagement with international partners.
Together, the two events underline the IAF’s dual role in representing India’s national spirit while maintaining combat preparedness and strengthening cooperation with friendly air forces around the world.
