Gaza, September 2026 : An Israeli air strike targeting a motorcycle in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood west of Gaza City killed a Palestinian and injured several others on Friday, Palestinian news agency Wafa reported. A child was among those injured and was reported to be in critical condition.
According to Wafa, Israeli forces also opened fire in the Nuseirat and al-Bureij refugee camps in the central Gaza Strip. The attacks reportedly struck tents sheltering displaced Palestinians and left several people injured.
The latest incidents came amid continued Israeli military operations across the Gaza Strip. Figures cited by Wafa said at least 1,381 people have been killed in Israeli strikes in the enclave since a ceasefire was announced in October 2025.
The report said Israel’s military campaign in Gaza since October 2023 has killed at least 73,795 people and wounded another 174,869.
Earlier this week, an Israeli air strike in Gaza City killed a paramedic and a 15-year-old schoolboy. The Israeli military said the strike was aimed at Hamas operatives.
The continuing violence has also had a severe impact on children and displaced families. UNICEF said last month that an average of one child had been killed every day in Gaza since the ceasefire. The UN agency also reported that families were confined to roughly one-third of the territory, where many were sheltering among destroyed buildings, rubble and uncleared waste.
The humanitarian situation was further underscored on Wednesday when a previously damaged residential building collapsed in Gaza City, killing at least 21 people, including 12 children.
Gaza’s Palestinian Civil Defence agency said rescue and recovery operations were being hampered by restrictions on the entry of heavy equipment into the territory. Such limitations have made it difficult for emergency teams to reach people trapped beneath collapsed structures and recover bodies from the rubble.
Gaza’s Health Ministry also warned on Wednesday that the territory’s healthcare system was nearing “total collapse”. The ministry attributed the worsening situation to continued restrictions on the entry of medical supplies and fuel into the enclave.
The latest casualties come as Gaza continues to face a combination of military strikes, displacement and shortages of essential humanitarian resources. Aid agencies have repeatedly raised concerns over the impact of the conflict on civilians, particularly children and families living in temporary shelters.
With residential areas, refugee camps and shelters continuing to face the effects of the conflict, the humanitarian situation remains a major concern amid ongoing military operations and restrictions affecting emergency response and the delivery of essential supplies.
