Hyderabad, Oct 2026 : Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K. T. Rama Rao on Wednesday demanded an independent investigation into the alleged ₹10,000-crore scam in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), warning that his party would intensify its agitation to protect workers’ rights and oppose any move to privatise the public sector coal mining company.
Addressing the Singareni Karmika Garjana public meeting organised by the BRS at Godavarikhani in Peddapalli district, Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, accused the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of promoting corruption, commission-driven contracts and financial mismanagement in the company.
KTR alleged irregularities in the tendering process for the Naini coal block, the issuance of site visit certificates, opencast mining contracts, machinery procurement and other operations. He demanded an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or a sitting judge, questioning why the Centre had not initiated an independent probe despite the allegations.
Referring to claims that cancellation of the Naini coal block tenders had saved ₹30,000 crore, KTR questioned who had allegedly attempted to benefit from the deal and why the tender process had faced repeated delays. He also alleged that the site visit certificate system was being misused and that tender decisions were favouring contractors over Singareni’s financial interests.
The BRS leader further accused the state government of failing to protect the company’s finances. He claimed that ₹6,317 crore had been diverted over two financial years and alleged that nearly 40 lakh metric tonnes of coal had gone missing. He called for a comprehensive audit of the company’s accounts and public disclosure of records relating to coal production, stocks and transportation.
KTR also claimed that the Telangana government owed Singareni nearly ₹60,000 crore and demanded immediate payment of the outstanding dues. According to him, delayed payments were affecting the company’s operations and its ability to maintain essential mining equipment.
Defending the interests of Singareni workers, KTR accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil its commitments on profit-sharing benefits. He recalled that the previous BRS government led by K. Chandrashekar Rao had increased workers’ profit share from 16 per cent to 32 per cent. He demanded the release of their share, bonuses and other pending benefits, along with the speedy resolution of issues concerning dependent employment, medical boards and land pattas.
“If the government fails to release the workers’ rightful profit share and bonus, we will lay siege to the residences of Congress MLAs and Ministers,” KTR warned.
Accusing both the Congress government in Telangana and the BJP-led government at the Centre of failing to safeguard public sector interests, KTR cautioned against privatisation efforts. He said Singareni had been built through generations of miners’ hard work and sacrifices and should remain a public sector enterprise serving Telangana.
KTR said the BRS would continue its agitation until the corruption allegations were investigated, workers received their pending benefits and the future of Singareni was secured. He urged miners to unite against measures that could threaten their livelihoods and the interests of the historic coal mining company.
The allegations made by KTR at the meeting were not independently established in the account of his remarks.
