Yogi Government Initiative Opens New Pathways for Youth; AI-Based Solutions Presented at HRIT University
12 teams showcased innovative projects addressing real-world challenges
Team Vision-X won first prize and a cash award of ₹25,000
Ghaziabad, October 2026: The Yogi Adityanath government’s initiative to transform young people’s ideas into innovations, employment opportunities and entrepreneurial ventures is opening new avenues for aspiring innovators in Uttar Pradesh.
The initiative was showcased at the UP RISE programme held at HRIT University in Ghaziabad on Wednesday, where students presented a range of technology-driven solutions addressing challenges in agriculture, healthcare, animal husbandry and disaster management.
The packed auditorium witnessed students demonstrating projects based on artificial intelligence (AI), computer vision and remote sensing. The programme provided a platform for young innovators to present their ideas, experiment with emerging technologies and explore opportunities to turn their concepts into startups and employment-generating ventures.
From Ideas to Startups: A Platform for Young Innovators
The students demonstrated how technology can be used not merely to develop new products but also to solve practical problems faced by society.
Their innovations included systems for detecting crop diseases, assessing onion quality, supporting elderly care and identifying potential faults in electronic chips.
After progressing through various stages of the competition, 12 teams presented their projects in the final round on Wednesday.
Games and interactive activities were also organised to familiarise participants with government initiatives, including the Chief Minister's Yuva Udyami Yojana and startup schemes. These activities highlighted opportunities available to young people for skill development, self-employment and entrepreneurship.
The objective was to encourage students to explore opportunities beyond conventional employment and consider establishing their own enterprises.
AI-Based Onion Quality Assessment Project Wins First Prize
Team Vision-X secured first place in the competition and received a cash prize of ₹25,000.
The team, comprising second-year BTech students Vidisha Gupta, Deepa, Anjali, Vanshika, Tanishka and Sonia, presented an AI-powered project titled 'Onion Grade'.
The system analyses images of onions and classifies them into Grade A, Grade B, Grade C or Reject categories based on size, colour, shape, rot and physical damage.
The technology aims to bring greater consistency to onion quality assessment and help reduce disputes between farmers and buyers by providing a more standardised evaluation process.
Innovations in Elderly Care and Electronic Chip Monitoring
The Rक्षक team, which secured the first runner-up position, presented an application called 'Saath Care (Kartavya)'.
Developed by third-year BTech students Gagan Deep Singh, Akarsh Srivastava, Diwakar Sahay Nim, Ishita Baloudi and Rudra Kumar, the application offers features such as medicine scanning, expiry-date verification, medication reminders, emergency alerts and assistance in understanding medical reports.
The second runner-up, Team Algorithm Architects, showcased DriftGuard AI, a software solution designed to detect abnormal changes in electronic chips and components and identify early signs of possible malfunction.
The team comprised Jaina Sachdeva, Kushagra Rana, Mohammed Arsalan Khan and Mariam Fatima.
Technology for Agriculture and Disaster Management
Students also presented innovations aimed at improving agricultural practices through drone technology, identifying crop diseases, addressing animal-health challenges and using AI to support education.
Another proposal involved a website that uses remote sensing to provide advance indications of potential natural disasters and information on possible preventive and rescue measures.
These projects demonstrated the potential of emerging technologies to address challenges across several sectors while creating opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Author Durjoy Datta Shares His Success Story
Bestselling author Durjoy Datta attended the programme as the chief guest. He shared how he began writing while pursuing his studies and eventually transformed his passion into a business.
He encouraged students to identify their interests and explore ways to convert them into viable career opportunities.
University professor Dr Naveen Rathi appreciated the Yogi government's initiatives and its efforts to promote innovation. He observed that members of Generation Z possess the ability to identify problems and develop solutions.
Vice-Chancellor Professor D.K. Sharma was also present at the event.
The jury comprised Harshit Desai, Jyoti Tiwari and Poonam Bansal.
The UP RISE programme highlighted the potential of young innovators to combine technology, creativity and entrepreneurship to develop practical solutions, create employment opportunities and contribute to Uttar Pradesh's development.
