‘Chief Minister’s Health Dialogue’ Initiative Receives Enthusiastic Response
Mumbai, October 2026: More than 52,000 students across Maharashtra have participated in health awareness sessions conducted under the state government’s ‘Chief Minister’s Health Dialogue: Awakening Health Awareness’ initiative. Launched at the initiative of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during the Navratri festival, the programme aims to educate college students about healthy living and encourage them to adopt good health practices from a young age.
Changing lifestyles, increased mobile phone use, inadequate sleep, unhealthy dietary habits and mental stress have heightened the need to raise awareness about health among young people. Recognising this need, the state government has organised sessions to provide college students with guidance from medical professionals and other experts.
So far, 393 sessions have been conducted across Maharashtra, with 52,386 students participating.
The primary objective of the initiative is to encourage young people to develop healthy habits early in life. The sessions focus on the importance of balanced nutrition, physical exercise, mental well-being and a healthy lifestyle. They also provide students with an opportunity to discuss health-related concerns and receive guidance from specialists.
Faculty members from universities and medical colleges, along with medical experts, interact directly with students during these sessions. Participants include students from medical, agricultural, engineering, science, commerce and arts streams.
Department-Wise Participation
According to the regional figures, Western Maharashtra recorded 122 sessions, attended by 11,980 students. The Marathwada region conducted 91 sessions, with 9,854 participants, while the Nashik division held 93 sessions, attracting 10,634 students.
In the Amravati division, 62 sessions were conducted with 6,352 students participating. The Konkan division recorded 53 sessions, attended by 6,404 students, while the Mumbai division held 24 sessions, with 3,269 participants. The Nagpur division conducted 45 sessions, attracting 3,893 students.
The sessions cover a range of topics, including balanced diets, regular exercise, mental health, the use of mobile phones and social media, de-addiction and healthy lifestyle choices. Students are also being advised on practical steps they can take in their daily lives to protect and improve their health.
The initiative seeks not only to make students more conscious of their own well-being but also to encourage them to share the information with their families and friends, thereby extending the programme’s impact beyond college campuses.
Building a Health-Conscious Generation
The Chief Minister’s Health Dialogue initiative, conceived by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is intended to strengthen health awareness among young people by addressing important issues during their college years.
Rameshwar Naik, head of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Charitable Hospital Assistance Cell, said the programme provides students with a valuable opportunity to interact directly with experts, ask questions and obtain appropriate guidance on health-related issues.
He expressed confidence that the initiative would help foster a generation that is more aware of the importance of nutrition, exercise, mental health and healthy living.
