Cyber help desks at police stations across Uttar Pradesh focus on resolving complaints, with technology strengthening trust between the police and the public

Lucknow, October 2026: Uttar Pradesh Police has achieved a significant breakthrough in technology-driven policing and public grievance redressal during the first week of the Yogi government’s Mission Shakti 6.0 campaign. As part of the initiative, Kasganj Police recovered lost mobile phones worth approximately ₹32 lakh within just seven days, bringing considerable relief to 120 people.

Notably, the search for the missing phones was not confined to Uttar Pradesh. Using technological resources, the police traced and recovered the devices from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana before returning them to their rightful owners.

The achievement by Kasganj Police marks a significant success in the opening week of Mission Shakti 6.0, reflecting the state government’s efforts under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to modernise policing through technology and ensure effective action on public complaints.

Phones Worth ₹32 Lakh Recovered in Seven Days; Police Reach Other States

Mission Shakti 6.0 was launched on October 11. During the first week of the campaign, Kasganj Police conducted a special drive to recover missing mobile phones. Based on complaints received, police teams began tracing the locations of the devices using technological tools.

During the investigation, several phones were found to be located outside Uttar Pradesh. The police subsequently expanded the scope of their operation and coordinated with authorities and relevant agencies in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana. With the help of technology, the missing phones were traced and recovered.

Within seven days, the police recovered mobile phones worth approximately ₹32 lakh and returned them to 120 people.

Recovery of Phones Restores People’s Digital Lives

Today, a mobile phone is much more than a communication device; it has become an essential part of a person’s digital life. Banking details, UPI payment facilities, important documents, business information, family photographs and valuable contacts are often stored on mobile phones.

Losing a phone therefore causes more than financial damage. It can also disrupt several essential day-to-day activities.

The Kasganj Police operation provided relief to 120 people facing such difficulties. Many of those who had almost given up hope of recovering their devices were delighted to receive their phones back. The initiative has also helped strengthen public confidence in the police.

Police Act from Complaint Registration to Return of Phones

Kasganj Superintendent of Police O.P. Singh said the police took complaints about missing mobile phones seriously and began tracing the devices using technological resources.

Once the phones were traced, efforts were made to recover them. Their ownership and the identities of the claimants were subsequently verified before the devices were handed over to the respective owners.

He said the campaign focused on ensuring that complaint resolution did not remain merely a paperwork exercise but resulted in tangible relief for complainants. With this objective, police teams coordinated with authorities beyond the state’s borders to recover the missing phones.

Yogi Government Promotes Technology-Driven Policing

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh Police is placing special emphasis on integrating modern technology into policing and improving the resolution of public grievances.

Cyber help desks at police stations across the state are helping people with complaints related to cybercrime and digital services. With the growing use of digital transactions, online banking and mobile-based services, technological resources have become increasingly important.

The Kasganj operation demonstrates that modern technology is not limited to identifying cybercriminals and taking action against them. It can also help resolve everyday problems faced by ordinary citizens.

Mission Shakti 6.0 Highlights Public Service and Accountability

The significance of Kasganj Police’s achievement during the first week of Mission Shakti 6.0 extends beyond the recovery of mobile phones worth ₹32 lakh. The operation restored 120 people’s access to important digital information and personal contacts.

It also demonstrated that police can use technological resources to trace missing mobile phones across state boundaries and act on complaints beyond their immediate jurisdiction.

The achievement during the campaign’s opening week highlights police responsiveness, technological capabilities and efforts to improve grievance redressal. While recovering the phones helped people regain access to their digital lives, it also contributed to strengthening public trust in the police.
