Aizawl, October 2026 : Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Thursday met KTC Group Japan Director Yamazaki Tomohiro and his colleagues at his office to discuss potential areas of cooperation and investment in Mizoram.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister said around 100 Mizo youths were currently working in Japan and had reportedly been having a positive experience.
He noted that the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), under the collaborative initiatives of the Japanese and Indian governments, was implementing several major projects in Mizoram and other northeastern states, which were benefiting the region.
Lalduhoma said the Mizoram government wanted to deepen its engagement with Japan wherever possible. To strengthen bilateral cooperation, a Working Committee on Japan-Mizoram Partnership had recently been established at the Chief Minister’s Office.
He said the meeting with the KTC Group delegation was held as part of the committee’s initiative to explore opportunities for collaboration between Mizoram and Japan.
The discussions focused on potential initiatives in skill development for Mizo youths, expanding employment opportunities for them in Japan and possible cooperation under the state government’s proposed Blue Mizoram Mission.
The participants also discussed collaboration to increase fish production in Mizoram, with the aim of strengthening the state’s fisheries sector and improving its capacity to produce more fish.
Representatives of KTC Group expressed their interest in undertaking initiatives in Mizoram and conveyed to the Chief Minister their willingness to explore opportunities for expanding the company’s activities in the state.
Founded in April 1972 in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, KTC Group began its operations by manufacturing educational materials. Since then, the group has expanded significantly and now comprises 67 companies, employing more than 6,500 people worldwide.
The meeting is expected to help identify opportunities for cooperation in human resource development, overseas employment and fisheries, as Mizoram seeks to strengthen its engagement with Japanese institutions and businesses.
