Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Meets Macron in France to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

New Delhi, Aug 2026 : Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman arrived in France on an official visit and held talks with President Emmanuel Macron, with the meeting highlighting efforts to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The talks focused on regional developments, peace and stability, as well as opportunities to expand cooperation in areas such as investment, technology and major infrastructure projects. The visit comes amid growing regional challenges and reflects the importance both countries attach to maintaining close diplomatic and economic ties.

President Emmanuel Macron said France and Saudi Arabia would continue working together to promote peace and stability in the region through dialogue and closer cooperation.

In a post on social media platform X, Macron described the Saudi Crown Prince’s visit as an important milestone in bilateral relations. He said that France and Saudi Arabia had consistently worked together to address regional challenges and would continue to strengthen their engagement in the coming years.

Macron stressed that the partnership between Paris and Riyadh extends beyond diplomatic discussions and is increasingly based on concrete projects and economic cooperation. He highlighted major investments, advanced technologies and large-scale projects as key components of the relationship.

He also pointed to international events hosted in Paris as areas where the two countries could further cooperate. Macron said France and Saudi Arabia had already achieved significant progress together and had the potential to take their partnership to a higher level.

The visit underlines France’s broader efforts to strengthen ties with key partners amid shifting geopolitical and economic dynamics. Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, has been seeking to expand international partnerships as part of its economic diversification and development agenda.

Macron has also remained engaged with European partners, particularly Ukraine. Earlier, he held a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and discussed measures to strengthen military cooperation.

France and Ukraine agreed to accelerate the delivery of equipment and missiles to Kyiv and explore licensing arrangements for the production of relevant missile systems. Zelensky said he had briefed Macron on recent Russian attacks against Ukrainian territory and stressed that strengthening air-defence capabilities remained one of Ukraine’s most urgent requirements.

The parallel diplomatic engagements reflect France’s efforts to maintain an active role in addressing major international and regional challenges while strengthening strategic partnerships with countries across Europe and the Middle East.
