40-Member Student Delegation from Chandigarh Visits Gujarat under the Yuva Sangam Programme, an Initiative under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’

Aim to Familiarise Youth with the Potential of Different States through Tourism, Tradition, Technology, Progress and People-to-People Connect

As part of the ‘Yuva Sangam’ initiative, which seeks to realise Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, a student delegation of around 40 members from Chandigarh, accompanied by institutional representatives, is visiting Gujarat from October 10 to 16, 2026.

The student delegation paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar today. Chief Minister’s Chief Advisor Dr. Hasmukh Adhia and Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar were also present on the occasion.

The ‘Yuva Sangam’ initiative was launched by the Department of Higher Education under the Union Ministry of Education with the primary objective of promoting cultural exchange, dialogue, national unity and mutual understanding among young people from different States and Union Territories across the country.

During his interaction with the young students, Chief Minister encouraged them to progress in life with a positive outlook and to openly share their experiences of Gujarat’s development journey with people in their home State. He also highlighted the key features that have made Gujarat a role model for development under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Through this initiative of the Central Government, students are encouraged to gain first-hand knowledge of the culture, traditions, heritage, development models, innovations and technological advancements of different States. To achieve this objective, all activities under Yuva Sangam are based on five key themes: Tourism, Traditions, Progress, People-to-People Connect and Technology.

Gujarat Central University is hosting the delegation to help students explore Gujarat’s historical and tourist destinations, understand its local culture, customs and traditions, and learn about its development model, industrial achievements and development-oriented initiatives.

In addition, the programme aims to foster dialogue, mutual understanding and long-term relationships among young people from different States, while helping them understand the application of technology and innovation across various fields.

Notably, as part of this initiative, a delegation of 50 students from Gujarat will also visit Punjab from October 22 to 29, 2026. The 50 students were selected through a prescribed selection process from approximately 5,000 applications received for the programme. The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali, will serve as the nodal institution for the visit by Gujarat’s students.
