New Delhi, September 2026 : As part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ launched on the occasion of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s birthday, the Delhi Government has taken another important step towards taking government services directly to workers and labourers. Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta on Tuesday flagged off four ‘Mobile Namo Shramik Seva Kendra Vans’ from the Delhi Secretariat. The initiative aims to ensure that workers do not have to make repeated trips to government offices to access government schemes and services, with essential facilities instead being made available in their own areas.
The Chief Minister said workers play a crucial role in the construction and development of Delhi. She said it was the government’s responsibility to take its services to the workers who work day and night to contribute to Delhi’s progress. The ‘Mobile Namo Shramik Seva Kendra’ has been designed with this very approach, so that services are not confined to government offices but reach workers who need them. Delhi Labour Minister Shri Kapil Mishra, senior officials of the department and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Services in your area, for your convenience
The Mobile Namo Shramik Seva Kendra will function as a mobile service unit. It will provide workers with registration and renewal services in their own areas, information about government schemes, assistance with required documents, access to digital services, and guidance on government facilities and benefits. The objective is not only to facilitate registration but also to connect workers with various government welfare schemes and assist them with information about schemes, the application process and required documents.
The initiative will be particularly useful for workers who find it difficult to take time away from work and travel to government offices located far from their workplaces. The government is working to provide workers with a simple, accessible and convenient system, reducing the need to visit different locations for different services and schemes. Alongside this, attention is also being given to rest areas and essential facilities for gig workers.
‘Services will now reach your doorstep’
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said one of the major challenges in ensuring that government schemes reach construction workers has been the lack of systematic registration. When genuine construction workers were not properly registered, they were often left out of several government facilities and schemes. She said the new system has been designed keeping workers’ convenience in mind.
Under the initiative, one mobile van will operate in each district of Delhi, with a total of 13 vans to be deployed. These vans will visit construction sites, labour chowks and locations where construction workers are employed. Workers will be able to register on the spot through these mobile vans. This will save them the need to travel to distant offices for registration and ensure that they do not lose their daily wages. Once registered, workers will have easier access to various government schemes and welfare benefits. The initiative is part of the government’s commitment to the dignity, convenience and welfare of workers.
Government schemes and services to reach workers
Delhi Labour Minister Kapil Mishra said that workers have an important role to play in realising Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta Ji, the Delhi Government is continuously taking forward worker-friendly schemes and initiatives of the Central Government. He said workers in Delhi will no longer remain deprived of adequate information about registration and government schemes. The ‘Mobile Namo Shramik Seva Kendra’ vans will reach workers directly and provide them with essential services around their workplaces.
He said the mobile vans would assist new workers with registration, renewal of registration and applications for various government schemes. Workers would also be provided detailed information about the schemes available to them and their benefits. In this way, the mobile vans will function as multi-purpose service centres.
