Dehradun, October 2026 : Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar paid a courtesy visit to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Chief Minister’s residence on Sunday. The two discussed the state’s film policy, opportunities for film production in Uttarakhand and measures to promote the film industry.
Akshay Kumar is currently shooting for his upcoming film in the Mussoorie and Landour areas of Uttarakhand.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Dhami said Uttarakhand had established itself as one of the country’s leading destinations for film shooting. The state’s natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, diverse geographical landscape and film-friendly environment continued to attract filmmakers from across the country.
He added that the shooting of major film projects in Uttarakhand was further strengthening the state’s reputation as a preferred destination for filmmakers.
Dhami said the positive outcomes of the Uttarakhand Film Policy 2024 were becoming increasingly evident. The state government has introduced several facilities to make film production easier, including a single-window system for granting shooting permissions.
The policy also provides financial incentives and grants to encourage filmmakers to undertake production activities in the state.
The Chief Minister said the government aimed to attract more film projects to Uttarakhand while creating new employment and self-employment opportunities for local artists, technicians and young people.
He noted that the expansion of film production activities would also benefit tourism, the hotel industry, transportation services and other local businesses, generating wider economic opportunities for residents.
Dhami reiterated that the state government was committed to extending all possible assistance to filmmakers and promoting Uttarakhand as an attractive destination for film production.
