Eagle Thane Strikers Outclass Triumphs Knights MNE by 24 Runs in T20 Mumbai League
Mumbai, June 2026 : Eagle Thane Strikers produced a disciplined all-round display to defeat Triumphs Knights MNE by 24 runs in the T20 Mumbai League 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday. A well-constructed batting effort followed by a clinical bowling performance helped the Strikers secure a comfortable victory and strengthen their position in the tournament.
After being asked to bat first, Eagle Thane Strikers recovered from early setbacks to post a competitive total of 172 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Sairaj Patil, who played a composed yet aggressive knock of 69 runs off 46 deliveries. His innings featured five boundaries and four sixes, providing the backbone of the team’s total.
Patil found valuable support from Siddhant Singh, who contributed 28 runs and helped stabilize the innings during the middle overs. As the innings progressed, the Strikers accelerated effectively through Shashwat Jagtap, who remained unbeaten on 29 from just 10 balls. His explosive cameo at the death ensured Eagle Thane crossed the 170-run mark and set a challenging target for their opponents.
India international Shardul Thakur, leading the side, had a rare off day with the bat and managed only a single run. However, the contributions from the middle and lower order ensured that his side still posted a strong total on a batting-friendly surface.
Chasing 173 for victory, Triumphs Knights MNE began positively and looked capable of mounting a serious challenge. Opener Akhil Herwadkar provided early momentum with a brisk 33 off 24 balls, striking the ball cleanly and keeping the required run rate under control.
Parikshit Valsangkar also played an enterprising innings, scoring 33 runs from only 20 deliveries. His knock included three towering sixes and briefly raised hopes of a successful chase. Captain Suryakumar Yadav chipped in with 20 runs, while Nutan Kumar Goel added 19, but none of the batters were able to convert their starts into substantial innings.
The turning point came when Eagle Thane Strikers’ bowlers tightened their grip on the contest. Regular wickets prevented Triumphs Knights from building meaningful partnerships, and the required run rate steadily climbed.
Anuj Giri emerged as the standout performer with the ball. He produced a decisive spell, claiming three wickets for just 17 runs in two overs. His timely breakthroughs dismantled the middle order and shifted the momentum firmly in favour of the Strikers.
Giri received excellent support from Atharva Ankolekar and Amartya Raje, who claimed two wickets apiece. The bowling unit maintained relentless pressure throughout the innings, ensuring that Triumphs Knights never gained complete control of the chase.
Despite several batsmen getting starts, Triumphs Knights MNE were eventually bowled out for 148 in 18.5 overs, falling well short of the target. The disciplined bowling effort, combined with crucial contributions from the bat, enabled Eagle Thane Strikers to register a convincing win.
The victory highlighted the Strikers’ balanced team performance, with both their batting and bowling departments delivering under pressure.
