A Grand Confluence of Faith, Technology and Service: Devotion Floods Khatu Dham as Rajasthan Police Create a Shield of Safety

Jaipur, February 2026 : The world-famous pilgrimage site of Khatushyamji in Sikar district is witnessing the annual Falgun Lakhi Fair this year as a remarkable blend of faith, discipline and modern management. Scheduled from February 21 to 28, the fair is expected to attract nearly 3.5 million devotees. Under the guidance of Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Sharma, the Rajasthan Police, district administration and the Shri Shyam Temple Committee have jointly devised an unprecedented security and facilitation plan to ensure safe and smooth darshan for every pilgrim. Special emphasis has been placed on technological innovation and crowd management.

Final Inspection of Preparations

To finalize arrangements for the main fair and Falgun Ekadashi, Sikar Superintendent of Police Praveen Nayak Noonawat conducted an intensive inspection of the fair area on Wednesday along with Superintendent of Police, CID Crime Branch Jyeshtha Maitreyi. The senior officers reviewed security layers and crowd-control strategies at the fair market, main temple complex and parking zones. Senior police officers, social media experts and field personnel were instructed to maintain a balance of vigilance and service spirit to ensure flawless arrangements during peak footfall.

High-Tech Security Cover: 22 Sectors, Over 5,000 Personnel

Considering the scale of the fair, ADG (Law and Order) V. K. Singh has put in place a multi-layered security plan. The entire fair area has been divided into 22 main sectors and 350 sub-sectors, with more than 5,000 police officers and personnel deployed. CCTV cameras and drones are monitoring every corner, while a centralized control room is conducting real-time surveillance. Additionally, 44 digital LED screens installed at the temple premises and entry points provide live updates on darshan waiting time, aarti schedules and weather conditions.

Color-Coded Parking and Smooth Traffic Management

Under the leadership of SP Praveen Nayak Noonawat, traffic arrangements have been simplified this year. Four large free parking zones have been developed for more than 25,000 vehicles arriving daily, color-coded as Bawan Bigha (Yellow), Sanwalpura (Green), Lamiya Road (Blue) and Dataramgarh (Pink). Large balloons matching the parking colors help devotees identify their designated zones from a distance. To transport pilgrims from parking areas to the temple, 2,000 e-rickshaws are operating at a fixed fare of ₹25, helping prevent congestion.

Dedicated Corridor and Help Booths for Foot Pilgrims

Respecting tradition, a 17-kilometre dedicated, vehicle-free walking corridor from Ringas to Khatu has been created, equipped with drinking water, lighting and rest facilities. Twelve police help booths with wireless and landline connectivity have been set up across the fair area to assist pilgrims in cases of lost persons, missing belongings or emergencies. Helpline numbers 112 and 9667600788 have also been issued for assistance.

Lakhs of Devotees in the First Four Days

A massive surge of devotion has been witnessed in the first four days itself. Official figures show that 410,316 devotees offered prayers in the first three days. Advanced counting cameras installed along a 75-foot-wide route are accurately assessing crowd movement. A well-organized 14-queue darshan system is enabling pilgrims to reach the temple smoothly despite heavy footfall. February 27 (Falgun Ekadashi) will be the highlight, marked by the grand chariot procession of Baba Shyam.

Special Arrangements for Persons with Disabilities

Along with security, the Rajasthan Police have demonstrated sensitivity. Special arrangements have been made for persons with disabilities and senior citizens, including dedicated vehicles from parking areas and wheelchair assistance by police personnel up to the darshan point. According to SP Noonawat, every devotee visiting Khatu Dham is treated like a family member, with humane conduct emphasized across the force.

Innovation: Selfie Contest and De-addiction Drive

To strengthen public trust, a unique Shri Khatushyamji Fair Selfie Contest has been introduced. Devotees can share selfies highlighting police assistance or good arrangements on social media; the best 100 entries will be rewarded by the Rajasthan Police. In line with DGP directives, devotees are also being administered pledges against substance abuse and educated about cybercrime awareness in holding areas—spreading the message of a safe and responsible society along with devotion.
