PM Employment Generation Scheme Gives Wings to Dr. Shibani’s Dreams of Self-Reliance
Raipur, March 2026 : In today’s changing times, women are proving their talent and determination across every field. Dr. Shibani Rani Sarangi from Bastar district has emerged as an inspiring example, who not only fulfilled her dream of becoming a doctor through hard work and perseverance but also stepped into entrepreneurship by availing benefits under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).
Driven by a strong passion for social service since childhood, Dr. Shibani worked diligently to earn her degree in dental surgery and specialized in oral and maxillofacial surgery. However, after completing her education, setting up her own clinic posed a major financial challenge.
During this difficult phase, she learned about the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme being implemented by the District Trade and Industry Centre, Jagdalpur, through a friend. She promptly visited the office to understand the loan process and submitted her application at the Dimrapal branch of Punjab National Bank. Under the scheme, she was sanctioned a loan of ₹8,56,900, which helped turn her dream into reality. Additionally, she received a government subsidy of ₹2,25,500, significantly reducing her financial burden.
In 2024, Dr. Shibani established her dental clinic at Shriram Polyclinic, located in Kothari Complex, Jagdalpur, marking her identity not only as a successful medical professional but also as an entrepreneur. Today, her clinic attracts a large number of patients, and her annual turnover has reached around ₹3 to ₹4 lakh.
What makes her journey even more remarkable is that she has not only built her own career but also provided employment to two other women, helping them become self-reliant. Dr. Shibani’s success story proves that with dedication, patience, and self-confidence, along with the support of government welfare schemes, even the biggest dreams can be achieved.
