Habuild at 6: ‘We Are Not Just Teaching Yoga, We Are Helping Millions Build Lifelong Healthy Habits’

As Habuild celebrates six years of transforming lives through wellness, its founder reflects on the journey from hosting yoga sessions for just three people to building a community that has impacted more than two crore people. In this exclusive conversation, the founder speaks about consistency, community, digital wellness, entrepreneurship and Habuild’s vision for the future.
Q: Habuild has completed six years. How does this milestone feel?
A: It feels incredibly special. Six years ago, if just three people turned up for a yoga session, it made my day. Today, Habuild has impacted more than two crore people, but honestly, the feeling hasn’t changed. Every individual who joins us is someone choosing themselves despite the demands of a busy life. That decision deserves appreciation.
For us, this anniversary isn’t just about completing six years. It represents lakhs of people choosing consistency over excuses every single day. We are deeply grateful for the trust our community has placed in us. At the same time, we genuinely believe we are only getting started. There is still so much more we want to accomplish.

Q: What inspired you to start Habuild?
A: The inspiration came from observing something very simple. Most people already know what is good for their health. They know they should exercise, eat well and take care of themselves. The challenge isn’t awareness; it’s consistency.
India doesn’t have a fitness problem as much as it has a consistency problem. People begin with enthusiasm but struggle to continue. That made us think differently. Instead of building another online yoga platform, we wanted to create something that helps people keep the promise they make to themselves every morning.
Q: In simple words, what is Habuild all about?
A: Habuild is about helping people build healthy habits that last a lifetime. Yoga is our foundation, but our mission goes much beyond yoga. We want wellness to become simple, accessible and sustainable for everyone.
Fitness shouldn’t feel complicated or intimidating. It should become as natural as brushing your teeth. Through our online sessions, supportive community and habit-building approach, we help people stay committed to their health journey. Our focus is on creating lasting transformation rather than temporary results.

Q: What makes Habuild different from other online yoga platforms?
A: I can only speak about Habuild. We don’t just focus on helping people start—we focus on helping them continue.
Many platforms measure success by how many people join. We measure success by how many people are still practising after 100, 500 or even 1,000 days. That difference comes because of our community.
People don’t wake up every morning only because they want to do yoga. They wake up because someone is waiting for them. They know they belong to a community that encourages them every single day. That feeling of belonging creates consistency.
Q: How has the journey evolved over these six years?
A: It has been a journey filled with learning, experimentation and growth. Initially, we wanted to understand whether people would even embrace digital yoga. Very soon we realised that we were solving a much bigger challenge—the challenge of building healthy habits.
We constantly adapted to changing consumer needs and experimented with new ideas. But one thing never changed: our commitment to making wellness accessible to everyone.
Today, when thousands of people practise with us every day, it reminds us that every challenge we faced was worthwhile.

Q: What were the biggest challenges in the early days?
A: The biggest challenge wasn’t technology or marketing. It was helping people believe they could stay consistent.
Personally, I have always looked at challenges as opportunities to learn. I was grateful when only three people attended our first class, and I remain equally grateful today. That mindset has helped us stay grounded throughout the journey.
Q: How did the COVID-19 pandemic impact Habuild?
A: COVID accelerated digital adoption and introduced many people to online wellness. Naturally, more people joined Habuild during that period.
But what stayed with us wasn’t just the growth—it was the community we built. Initially, people joined because they couldn’t step outside. Later, they realised that maintaining health becomes much easier when you’re surrounded by people who motivate and encourage you every day.
That community became our biggest strength.
Q: What keeps members coming back every morning?
A: People don’t wake up at 6 a.m. simply because of yoga. They wake up because they become part of something much bigger than themselves.
Over time, Habuild becomes more than a fitness class. It becomes a family where people celebrate each other’s milestones, motivate one another and remind each other why they started. That sense of belonging creates accountability, and accountability builds consistency.
Q: How do you ensure online sessions remain engaging?
A: Our sessions continue to evolve because our members evolve. We listen to them every day, test new formats, improve our teaching methods and introduce new movements suitable for different age groups and abilities.
The objective isn’t to create novelty for its own sake. It’s to ensure that someone practising with us for three years remains just as excited to join tomorrow’s session as they were on the very first day.

Q: What role does discipline play in achieving consistency?
A: Discipline helps you continue until consistency becomes part of your identity.
The truth is, nobody feels motivated every single day. Motivation comes and goes. The real goal is to make healthy habits so natural that you stop negotiating with yourself. Once health becomes part of who you are, consistency follows automatically.
Q: Can online yoga replace traditional physical classes?
A: I don’t think it’s about replacement. The best yoga class isn’t online or offline. It’s the one that fits your lifestyle and routine.
Every person has different commitments and schedules. Online yoga has made wellness accessible to millions who otherwise might never have begun their journey. That accessibility is its greatest strength.
Q: What has been the most memorable feedback you’ve received from a member?
A: The most touching feedback comes from members who tell us they have completed 100, 500 or even 1,000 consecutive days of practice.
Think about what that means. They showed up through birthdays, vacations, illnesses, family events and difficult days. That kind of commitment is incredibly inspiring because it proves that ordinary consistency creates extraordinary change.
Q: How do you maintain yoga’s authenticity in a digital environment?
A: Authenticity comes from staying true to yoga’s philosophy rather than focusing only on physical exercise.
Yoga is fundamentally about overcoming your mental constraints. Technology is simply the medium through which we deliver that experience. If we help people overcome mental barriers and make healthier choices, then we are remaining true to the essence of yoga.
Q: Are you planning to expand into other wellness areas?
A: Absolutely. Yoga itself is a complete lifestyle.
We see opportunities in nutrition, mindfulness, mental well-being and preventive healthcare. In fact, our community already has access to several of these resources. Going forward, we want to support our members with everything they need to build healthier, sustainable habits for life.
Q: What does a typical day look like for you?
A: My day starts early, around 5 a.m., as I prepare for our 6:30 a.m. live session.
The rest of the day is spent working closely with our team, reviewing ideas and, most importantly, listening to our members. They often provide our best insights.
No two days are the same, and that’s one of the most exciting aspects of being a teacher. The biggest challenge is maintaining focus while balancing multiple responsibilities.
Q: How do you personally stay fit and mentally balanced?
A: Yoga remains the foundation of my daily routine because it benefits both the body and mind.
I also pay close attention to sleep, nutrition and recovery. Wellness is holistic. Practices like meditation and mindful breathing help me stay calm, focused and make better decisions.
I genuinely believe consistency matters far more than intensity—in both health and life.
Q: What advice would you give someone beginning their fitness journey?
A: Start small.
Don’t wait until you have an hour every day. Even 10 or 15 minutes of consistent practice can produce remarkable results over time because the hardest part is building the habit.
Choose activities you genuinely enjoy. Don’t compare yourself with others. Focus only on becoming a little better every day. Fitness isn’t a 30-day challenge—it’s a lifelong relationship with your health.

Q: What advice would you offer young entrepreneurs?
A: Honestly, I don’t see myself as an entrepreneur.
I feel fortunate to have an incredible team that keeps everything moving. I learn from them every single day. If I had one piece of advice, it would simply be this: keep learning, stay humble and continue adapting because growth never stops.
Q: Finally, what’s next for Habuild?
A: Our vision remains unchanged—to help people overcome their mental constraints and make health a sustainable part of everyday life.
We will continue evolving our sessions, launching new programmes and finding better ways to help people build lifelong healthy habits. Most importantly, we will continue strengthening the community that has made Habuild what it is today.
After six wonderful years and a community of over two crore people, we believe the journey has only just begun.
