Lucknow, August 2026 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s cow conservation policy in Uttar Pradesh is no longer limited to the conservation of indigenous breeds; it is also becoming a strong foundation for the rural economy and employment. Young entrepreneurs in the state are generating crores of rupees in business through Panchgavya-based Ayurvedic products. Along with the conservation of indigenous cows, Ayurvedic pharmacies are also operating in the state. Ayurvedic products are now being developed by integrating traditional Indian medical practices and modern scientific approaches.

Environmental Engineer Embraces Natural Healing, Develops Over 40 Products

Paraag Gaur, an environmental engineer from Bulandshahr, has developed over 40 Ayurvedic products based on Panchagavya to promote natural healing. These products include cow urine extract for obesity, Punarnavadi extract for liver and kidney, Kachnaradi extract for thyroid, Chyawanprash prepared with desi cow ghee for immunity boosting, cow urine capsules effective for respiratory problems and cancer, Phal Ghrit for women’s health, Ashwagandha Ghrit for child development, Shatavari Ghrit for body strength, Triphala Ghrit for eyes, and Takrarishta, useful for stomach ailments, hemorrhoids, IBS, and gas problems. These products are also giving indigenous medical systems new recognition. His annual turnover has reached over ₹1.25 crore (approximately $1.25 million).

A successful model for conserving indigenous breeds like the Sahiwal and Tharparkar

Since 2017, a campaign has been underway in the state to conserve indigenous cow breeds like the Sahiwal and Tharparkar. Along with conserving these breeds, the production of cow-based products has also made cattle rearing economically profitable. This has given a new direction to cow conservation and increased self-employment opportunities for youth.

Bull-Oil-Crushing Project Also Running

Parag Gaur informed that a Bull-Oil-Oil-Crushing Project is also being implemented in the cowshed. For this, bulls have been trained to operate oil-pressing machines. This initiative has not only ensured the conservation of bulls but is also ensuring their optimal utilization. Pure oil extracted through this traditional method is available at prices ranging from 550 to 650 rupees per liter. The pure oil obtained from the oil-pressing machine is used as fodder for cows, thereby increasing their milk production.

Business Expansion Thanks to a Government Scheme Loan

Parag Gaur explained that in 2024, he received a loan of ₹10 lakh under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). This assistance enabled the construction of new rooms, the installation of modern machinery, and the provision of an OD limit. This increased production capacity and significantly helped expand the business of Ayurvedic products.

A Strong Model for Self-Reliance with Cow Protection

Chairman of the Cow Service Commission, Shyam Bihari Gupta, stated that if cow protection is combined with scientific thinking, modern technology, and entrepreneurship, it can become not only a religious or social initiative but also an effective economic model for rural development, employment generation, and a self-reliant India. Initiatives such as Panchagavya-based medicines, the conservation of indigenous breeds, and the traditional bullock-oil press have given a new identity to cattle rearing and strengthened the rural economy.
