Telangana Allocates ₹9,000 Crore for Rythu Bharosa Scheme; First Instalment Released

The Rythu Bharosa scheme is a flagship farmer welfare initiative of the Telangana government that provides direct financial assistance of ₹12,000 per acre annually to support cultivation expenses. Aimed at easing the financial burden on farmers, the scheme benefits around 70 lakh farmers by helping them meet input costs such as seeds, fertilisers, and labour.

Hyderabad, March 2026 : The Telangana government has earmarked ₹9,000 crore under the Rythu Bharosa scheme to extend financial assistance to farmers, reinforcing its commitment to agricultural welfare. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday released the first instalment of ₹3,590 crore at a public meeting in Narmeta, Siddipet district.

As the announcement coincided with a public holiday, the राशि will be credited to farmers’ bank accounts on Monday. The Chief Minister further outlined a phased disbursement plan, stating that the second instalment of ₹2,650 crore will be released within the next 20 days, followed by the remaining ₹2,760 crore in another 20 days.

Highlighting the government’s sustained focus on the कृषि sector despite financial constraints, Reddy noted that farmer welfare remains a top priority. He pointed out that while the previous administration spent around ₹2,533 crore per month on farmer-related initiatives, the current government has significantly increased this to ₹5,500 crore per month over the past 28 months.

The Chief Minister stressed that the government is determined to ensure prosperity among farmers through a range of welfare measures, including fair prices for agricultural produce and compensation for crop losses. “No state can prosper if its farmers are in distress,” he remarked, underscoring the importance of agricultural stability for overall development.

Reddy also revealed that Telangana has emerged as the leading state in paddy production in the country, with the government procuring 71 lakh tonnes this season. However, he expressed concern that the Central government’s procurement has been capped at 50 lakh tonnes.

Emphasising the need for long-term agricultural sustainability, the Chief Minister called for crop diversification. He urged farmers to move beyond paddy cultivation and adopt a wider range of crops suited to their regions, recalling traditional farming practices where different areas specialised in distinct crops.

He assured that the state government, with support from the Centre, will work towards making agriculture more profitable and resilient, ensuring better livelihoods for farmers across Telangana.
