Telangana to Launch Digital Family Register, Family Register Certificates to Be Available Through MeeSeva

Hyderabad, July 2026 : The Telangana government has decided to establish a statewide Telangana Family Register and introduce a Family Register Certificate service through the MeeSeva platform, aiming to simplify access to authenticated family records for citizens seeking various government services.

The Revenue Department has issued a Government Order (GO) formalising the initiative, which is designed to create a uniform and reliable system for verifying family details. The move addresses long-standing difficulties faced by citizens in producing authenticated documents to establish family composition while applying for welfare schemes, official certificates and other government services.

According to the GO, the Telangana Family Register will be maintained entirely in electronic format, ensuring easy access and efficient record management. Each family will be assigned a unique identification based on the ration card number, which will serve as the Family Register Identification Number.

The digital register will contain comprehensive details, including the name of the head of the family, names of all family members, their relationship with the head of the household, age, date of birth, gender, Aadhaar number and the family’s current residential address. The government believes the digital database will help improve transparency, reduce documentation hassles and streamline service delivery across departments.

To make the records easily accessible, the government will introduce a new citizen-centric service titled “Telangana Family Register Certificate” on the MeeSeva platform. Citizens will be able to apply for the certificate at any MeeSeva centre or through the MeeSeva online portal and mobile application by paying the prescribed service fee.

The government has also fixed a service delivery timeline of two working days from the date of receipt of the application, enabling citizens to obtain the certificate quickly without lengthy administrative procedures.

The initiative has been welcomed by AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who described it as a timely decision that would particularly benefit economically weaker and undocumented sections of society.

Owaisi revealed that he had submitted a representation to the state government on the issue along with Faheem Qureshi, Vice Chairman and President of the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMREIS). According to him, the service charge for obtaining the certificate has been fixed at ₹62.

In a post on X, Owaisi pointed out that the Family Register Certificate is among the 12 accepted documents under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision process. He said the new facility would prove especially useful for poor families and individuals who may otherwise face challenges in producing documentary proof if they receive official notices.

Expressing gratitude to the state government, Owaisi said the initiative would make government services more accessible and hoped citizens would make full use of the new digital facility.

The Telangana government’s decision marks another step towards digitising public services and strengthening citizen-centric governance by providing a standardised, secure and easily accessible family records system across the state.
