Chief Minister Attends Shiv Mahapuran Katha, Emphasises Strength of Sanatan Traditions

Jaipur, March 22: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Sunday attended the Shri Shiv Mahapuran Katha and Mahamrityunjaya Rudra Mahayagya organised in Mansarovar, where he, along with his wife, participated in the religious proceedings. He listened to the sacred discourse and performed the aarti of Lord Shiva, praying for the prosperity and well-being of the people of the state.

Before the event, the Chief Minister honoured renowned storyteller Pandit Pradeep Mishra by presenting him with a ceremonial stole.

Addressing the gathering, Sharma highlighted the importance of Sanatan culture, stating that its festivals, traditions, and spiritual narratives play a vital role in strengthening society. He said that organising the Shiv Mahapuran Katha during the auspicious occasion of Navratri and the New Year symbolises the divine union of Shiva and Shakti, which enhances spiritual energy.

He explained that devotion to Goddess Durga instills Strength in life, while the teachings of the Shiv Mahapuran bring peace of mind and a sense of liberation. Emphasising the significance of Lord Shiva, Sharma said that as Mrityunjaya (the conqueror of death), worshipping him helps devotees overcome fear and uncertainty. He added that there is no greater protection than devotion to Shiva.

The Chief Minister further noted that Lord Shiva represents discipline, devotion, meditation, and restraint. He said Shiva’s teachings inspire people to rise above material attachments and work towards the welfare of humanity.

Referring to national developments, Sharma said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several initiatives have strengthened Sanatan traditions. He mentioned the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya after centuries, along with the development of major pilgrimage sites such as Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Mahakal Corridor in Ujjain, and Kedarnath and Badrinath.

He added that the state government is committed to promoting religion, culture, and faith by ensuring the development of temples and pilgrimage centres.

Praising Pandit Pradeep Mishra, Sharma said his simple language, deep scriptural knowledge, and devotional storytelling have played a significant role in connecting the younger generation with Sanatan culture. He remarked that such spiritual discourses help alleviate life’s sufferings, just as Lord Shiva protected the universe by consuming poison.

The Chief Minister concluded by stating that scriptures like the Shiv Purana, Ram Katha, Bhagavad Gita, and Bhagavata Purana provide profound wisdom that gives meaning and direction to life, guiding people toward a righteous path.
