New Pair of Himalayan Black Bears Becomes Center of Attraction in Jaipur
Jaipur, March 2026: A new attraction has been added for visitors at Nahargarh Biological Park, Jaipur. A male and female Himalayan black bear brought from Jammu (Jammu & Kashmir) were opened for public viewing from Thursday.
Forest and Environment Minister Shri Sanjay Sharma formally inaugurated the enclosure’s display area by cutting the ribbon on Thursday, after which the bears were made accessible to visitors.
According to the zoo administration, the male bear is approximately 30 months old and the female about 21 months old. The minister named the male bear “Hari” and the female bear “Kamla.”
On this occasion, the five cubs of tiger Shivaji and tigress Rani were also named. The male cubs were named “Surya,” “Shaurya,” and “Vijay,” while the female cubs were named “Ambe” and “Vrinda.”
The Forest Minister and senior officials also planted trees in the biological park, sending a message of environmental conservation.
Additional Chief Secretary Shri Anand Kumar, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Forest Force Head) Shri Pawan Kumar Upadhyay, Chief Wildlife Warden Shri K.C.A Arun Prasad, and other officials were present.
