Prosperous Families Should Set Trend for Mass Marriages: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that in Sanatan culture, marriage is a sacred bond that lasts across lifetimes. The period ahead brings many responsibilities for newly married couples entering family life. Wedding ceremonies create an atmosphere of joy and celebration for every family. In mass marriage ceremonies, sons and daughters from different sections of society are united in marriage under one pavilion. This collective celebration conveys a strong message against wasteful expenditure and showmanship.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that ever since the government and society jointly initiated the practice of organising mass marriages, economically weaker parents have found great relief. He urged prosperous sections of society to adopt simplicity in their personal conduct and set a trend by participating in mass marriage ceremonies. This would help all sections of society avoid unnecessary wedding expenses and enable families to utilise their resources for a better future.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav mentioned that he himself had solemnised his son’s marriage through a mass marriage ceremony. He further stated that ensuring proper education for daughters is every parent’s responsibility.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav virtually addressed the mass marriage ceremony of 200 daughters organised on Thursday in Ashta, Sehore district, from the Chief Minister’s residence. He extended his blessings to the newlywed couples and conveyed his best wishes to their family members.

Parents No Longer Forced to Take Loans for Marriages

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that from December 2023 to April 2026, a total of 1,70,187 daughters were married under the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana. Financial assistance amounting to nearly ₹1,000 crore has been provided under the scheme so far.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that mass marriage ceremonies ensure that daughters from economically weaker families are married with dignity and respect. Regardless of social background, the marriage of children is the greatest responsibility for every parent. With the organisation of mass marriages, parents are no longer compelled to take loans for weddings.

He emphasised that society and government complement each other, and meaningful change is possible only when both work together. Events such as mass marriage ceremonies have emerged as one of the finest mediums of social service in present times.

MLA from Ashta Shri Gopal Singh Engineer, Janpad Panchayat Ashta President Smt. Diksha Sonu Gunwan, public representatives, newlywed couples and their family members were present at the event held in Ashta, Sehore district.
