Prashant Kishor Enters Electoral Arena, Files Nomination for Bankipur Bypoll

Patna, July 2026 : Bihar’s political landscape witnessed heightened activity on Monday as Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor officially entered the electoral fray by filing his nomination papers for the Bankipur Assembly by-election at the Patna Collectorate.

Accompanied by senior party leaders, workers and supporters, Kishor submitted his nomination amid considerable enthusiasm, marking his first direct electoral contest after years as a political strategist and campaign advisor. The bypoll is being viewed as a significant test for the Jan Suraaj Party and its attempt to establish itself as a credible political force in Bihar.

Addressing reporters after filing his nomination, Prashant Kishor exuded confidence about his prospects in the election. He claimed that the Jan Suraaj campaign has been receiving an encouraging response from the people and asserted that voters are looking beyond traditional political parties in search of a new alternative.

According to him, the contest is not a difficult one for his party because a large section of the electorate has become disillusioned with conventional politics and is eager to support a fresh model of governance. He maintained that the people of Bankipur are increasingly favouring politics centred on development, transparency and public welfare rather than caste-based or traditional political calculations.

Kishor said voters today are more aware than ever before and are assessing candidates based on their vision, credibility and performance. He stressed that the electorate wants representatives who prioritise public issues instead of relying on long-established political practices.

Highlighting the Jan Suraaj Party’s agenda, Kishor said his campaign is focused on improving the quality of education, generating employment opportunities, strengthening infrastructure and ensuring transparent and accountable governance. He added that the party seeks to introduce a development-oriented political culture that places citizens’ welfare at the centre of policymaking.

The Bankipur Assembly by-election has emerged as one of the most keenly watched political contests in Bihar, with all major parties fielding prominent candidates. The outcome is expected to provide an important indication of the state’s evolving political landscape ahead of future elections.

The bypoll is set to witness a triangular contest involving candidates from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Jan Suraaj Party, making it a crucial electoral battle for all three formations.

Expressing optimism, Prashant Kishor said the election would serve as a referendum on the people’s desire for political change. He voiced confidence that the verdict would reflect growing public support for Jan Suraaj’s vision of clean governance, accountability and development-driven politics in Bihar.
