Gandhinagar : The closing ceremony of the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investors Summit and Expo (RE-INVEST 2024), organized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, was held today under the chairmanship of Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar. The event, held at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, saw the presence of the Governor of Gujarat Shri Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Punjab Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendra Patel, and Union Minister for New and Renewal Energy Shri Pralhad Joshi.

In his address at the closing ceremony of RE INVEST-2024, Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar highlighted the critical importance of the renewable energy sector. He emphasized that in the current era of climate change and global warming, renewable energy is not just an option but a necessity, vital for the survival of the entire ecosystem. To protect the environment and save the world, India has launched a global mission in renewable energy, and he urged every citizen to contribute by embracing renewable energy.

Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, reflecting on Gujarat’s remarkable history, spoke of how the state has inspired the world. He recalled the pivotal roles of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, two of Gujarat’s iconic leaders, in leading India’s fight for independence. Today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the world embraces India’s message of unity, symbolized by the Statue of Unity. Over the past three days, global leaders from the renewable energy sector have gathered in Gujarat to share insights and exchange ideas. With over 250 expert speakers and an equal number of delegates, the event saw thousands of citizens actively participating, showcasing its success. The Vice President commended the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the outstanding planning of this significant global event.

The RE-INVEST exhibition presents global solutions focused on making the world more sustainable. With participation from over 200 companies and more than 500 B2B and B2G meetings held during the three-day summit. Diplomats worldwide have acknowledged that renewable energy is not merely an option but a critical necessity for human survival. The Vice President expressed confidence that the RE-INVEST Summit will serve as a key driver for advancing the renewable energy sector. He cautioned that Earth’s natural resources are for all, but careless usage will lead to disaster. The Vice President underscored climate change as the most significant threat to ecosystems, reminding us that with no other planet to inhabit, we must tackle these challenges directly. He highlighted India’s vital role in addressing climate change, with the nation leading global efforts under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

He highlighted that India’s Ved and Upanishad (ancient sacred texts) had already acknowledged the significance of renewable energy, a wisdom that the world now embraces. With this guiding principle, India successfully hosted the G-20 Summit last year under the theme “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (The World is One Family) where over 100 nations, including the European Union and African Union, adopted India’s vision. He mentioned that it is our shared responsibility to ensure a better world for future generations. As awareness increases about the damage caused to the planet, every citizen must contribute to this grand mission to save the Earth, working with the commitment and determination of a soldier.

Governor Shri Acharya Devvrat
Governor of Gujarat Shri Acharya Devvrat, addressing the closing ceremony of RE-INVEST 2024, stated that Global Warming is a Global Warning for the world, and the discussions on renewable energy over the past three days at Mahatma Mandir mark a pivotal and timely move in the right direction. He congratulated Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and the Gujarat government for their dedicated efforts.

Shri Acharya Devvrat also noted that in our quest for material progress, humanity has greatly exploited nature. The elements—Sun, Earth, Fire, Air, and Water—have been disrupted, leading to the dire consequences of global warming. He urged that these five elements, regarded as ‘Panch Mahabhoot’ in Indian scriptures, must be honoured and preserved as we progress. The RE-INVEST Summit is an important step in this direction. He stated that energy is the foundation of development. The deliberation in solar, wind, hydro, and green hydrogen energy sectors reflects a vision aimed at the welfare of the entire world. He congratulated the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the Government of India, and the Government of Gujarat for their contributions to this global mission.
