State-Level Event in Jaipur on Police Martyrs’ Day: DGP Calls for Dedication to Serve the Nation Inspired by Martyrs’ Sacrifice

Jaipur : On the occasion of Police Martyrs’ Day, a state-level event was held at the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) on Monday. Director General of Police (DGP) Mr. Utkar Ranjan Sahu urged all police officers and personnel to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of the country’s immortal police martyrs and commit to serving the nation with dedication.

Honoring 216 Police Personnel Who Sacrificed Their Lives in National Service

During the tribute program, DGP Sahu read the names of 216 police officers and personnel who attained martyrdom in service between September 1, 2023, and August 31, 2024. The Rajasthan Police family paid heartfelt homage to these brave souls. He also remembered the martyred police personnel from Rajasthan, including ASI Ramchandra, ASI Ram Swaroop, Head Constable Chanda Kumari, Head Constable Khushiram Rajalwal, and others. Tributes were extended to personnel from other states and forces like BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, Fire Services, Home Guards, and RPF.

Remembering the Sacrifice of Police Personnel in Ladakh 65 Years Ago

In his address, DGP Sahu recalled the sacrifice of Indian police personnel who laid down their lives in Ladakh’s challenging terrain on October 21, 1959, while defending the motherland. Police Martyrs’ Day is observed annually on this date across the country to honor their memory and draw inspiration. He said their sacrifice symbolizes the highest traditions of Indian police work, setting a remarkable example of dedication for all police personnel.

DGP Takes Salute During the Parade

A Guard of Honor was presented in tribute to the fallen police personnel, and DGP Sahu took the salute during the parade. Along with former DGP Ajit Singh, he laid a wreath at the RPA’s martyr memorial to pay respects. Other dignitaries, including retired DGPs OP Galhotra and SPS Srivastava, ADG (Training) Ashok Rathore, Joint Director of IB Ramakant Sharma, DIG of CBI Ashok Kumar, and ADG & RPA Director S. Sengathir, also paid homage.

The event was attended by senior officials such as DGP (ACB) Ravi Prakash Meharda, DGP (Cyber Crime & SCRB) Hemant Priyadarshi, and other IPS, RPS officers, and dignitaries.

Tribute Program at Trimurti Circle

Following the event at RPA, a tribute program was also organized at the Police Memorial at Trimurti Circle on Jawaharlal Nehru Road. DGP Sahu laid a wreath to honor the fallen heroes, joined by police officials from Jaipur Police Commissionerate and other personnel who paid tribute to the martyrs.
