Fire Department issues safety guidelines, intensifies awareness campaign for Mahakumbh

Prayagraj : The Uttar Pradesh Fire Department is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a safe and fire-free Mahakumbh. In preparation for the grand spiritual gathering, the department has issued safety guidelines and intensified awareness campaign aimed at protecting devotees and promoting awareness.

As part of the initiative, animated videos and safety tips are being widely shared across social media platforms. These videos are designed to convey essential fire prevention measures in simple and easy-to-understand language, making them accessible to people of all backgrounds.

With this proactive approach, the Fire Department aims to instill a sense of safety among the millions of devotees expected to attend Mahakumbh, ensuring the event remains secure and incident-free.

Prayagraj’s Chief Fire Officer and Mahakumbh Nodal Officer, Pramod Sharma, shared that the Fire Department is working under the theme “Bachaav Hi Humara Kartavya Hai” (Prevention is our duty). Every video promotes the tagline “Apki Samajhdari Hai Suraksha Apki Aur Humari” (Your awareness ensures your safety and ours).

The department’s goal is to ensure that no fire incidents occur during Mahakumbh and that devotees can perform their religious rituals in a safe environment. The Fire Department has also urged people to immediately report any fire emergencies by calling 100 or 1920.

Fire safety guidelines for Mahakumbh

  1. No open flames near tents or pavilions:
One safety video highlights the risks of leaving bonfires unattended near tents, which can lead to fires. Fire officials have strictly warned against using open flames, stoves, or fire pits inside pavilions or tents.
  2. Proper use of electrical appliances:
Through animated characters like Chhota Bheem, people are being educated about avoiding the use of damaged wires or overloaded electrical devices. The videos also emphasize the importance of giving way to fire brigade vehicles during emergencies.
  3. Avoid flammable substances:
Another video demonstrates an incident where spilled ghee during a ritual caused a fire. Devotees are advised to avoid using flammable materials such as petrol, diesel, or candles near worship areas.
  4. Mock drills for rescue operations:
To ensure quick and effective responses during emergencies, the Fire Department is conducting rescue operation mock drills at Mahakumbh. These drills aim to prepare teams for any unforeseen incidents.
