Statewide Drive for Water Resource Protection Continues with Public Participation

Under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, a state-wide campaign for the protection and cleaning of water structures under the Jal Ganga Samwardhan has been ongoing since March 30. The campaign has witnessed active involvement from all sections of society. Various locations have been identified for cleaning and deepening, with plans to develop them into tourist attractions.

Prithvi Talab in Gwalior to be Developed as a Tourist Site

As part of the campaign, Prithvi Talab in Gwalior is set to be developed into a tourist destination. Beautification began with a traditional Bhoomi-Pujan ceremony in the presence of local MP Shri Bharat Singh Kushwaha and Mayor Dr. Shobha Sikarwar. Shri Kushwaha informed that Rs. 3 crore has been allocated under the AMRUT Yojana. Dr. Smt Sikarwar added that dense tree plantation will be undertaken around the lake to improve the water level.

Speech Competition in Chitrangi, Singrauli

In the Singrauli district, along with the cleaning of water sources, public awareness drives are being conducted. A speech competition on the importance of water was held at the Government Girls’ School in Chitrangi. Students emphasised the need to transform water conservation into a public movement, especially in light of climate change.

Cleaning of Ramtalai Talab in Dhar

In Dhar district, officials and employees from the District AYUSH Office took part in cleaning the Ramtalai Talab. Anganwadi workers from Trimurti Nagar (Centre No. 80) interacted with Ayurvedic doctors to gain insights on nutritional diets. Women’s participation was a notable part of the lake-cleaning efforts.

Watershed Mission Begins in Pansemal, Barwani

In Barwani district’s Rakhi Buzurg village under Pansemal Janpad Panchayat, MLA Shri Shyam Barde inaugurated the Watershed Mission. He stressed that life is unimaginable without water and informed about the approval of a dam on the nearby Susri River. Children also participated in drawing and rangoli competitions on water conservation and plant protection.

Cleaning of Sacred Ponds at Sitanahani, Nepanagar – Burhanpur

The Nepanagar Municipal Council conducted cleaning and painting of the sacred ponds at the religious tourism site of Sitanahani. CMO of Nepanagar said that water from the perennial stream at Sitanahani supplies Ward No. 22. Municipal Chairperson Smt. Bharti Patil, councillors, and citizens took an oath to conserve water, concluding the event with Ganga Aarti.

Student Rally for Water Awareness in Reethi, Katni

In Reethi, Katni district, the campaign is actively cleaning local water sources. With support from Jan Abhiyan Parishad, students took out a rally through the main streets to promote water awareness. Street plays were organised in markets to urge cleanliness around rivers, ponds, and handpumps, emphasising the power of collective public action.

Community Effort to Clean Ancient Karmarai Pond in Tikamgarh

In Tikamgarh’s Karmarai village, the ancient Chandel-era pond was cleaned through a community shramdaan effort. Volunteers from the Sudarshan Foundation (an initiative of Jan Abhiyan Parishad) raised awareness about depleting groundwater levels and administered pledges to encourage active participation in water conservation. Authorities also removed encroachments from 8.5 acres near Mahendra Sagar pond as part of the drive.
