CM Vishnu Deo Sai Lays Bricks for a Soak Pit as a Mason; Applauds the Work of the Water Conservation Brigade to Save Water

Raipur : As part of the statewide Su-Shasan Tihar (Good Governance Festival), Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai visited the village of Baldakchhar in Kasdol block of Balodabazar-Bhatapara district, which is predominantly inhabited by the Special Backward Tribe, the Kamar community. He reviewed the soak pit being constructed by the Jal Sanchayan Vahini (Water Conservation Brigade) under the Mor Gaon, Mor Pani Mahabhiyan (My Village, My Water Campaign) for rainwater harvesting. On this occasion, the Chief Minister himself took on the role of a mason and laid bricks in the under-construction soak pit.

Praising the efforts of the Jal Sanchayan Vahini for saving water, the Chief Minister said that such initiatives are essential to address the water crisis.

Mrs. Lalita Dhruv, a member of the Jal Sanchayan Vahini, informed that under the Mor Gaon, Mor Pani Mahabhiyan, soak pits have been constructed near 10 tube wells in Baldakchhar so far. As part of this campaign, activities such as cleaning ponds, awareness rallies, wall painting, and educating villagers about water harvesting systems are also being undertaken.

It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai launched the Mor Gaon, Mor Pani Mahabhiyan on the occasion of Panchayati Raj Day on 24 April 2025. Under this campaign, 2,500 soak pits have already been constructed near tube wells in all 519 gram panchayats of the Balodabazar-Bhatapara district. Additionally, around 1,291 ponds have been cleaned.

To promote water conservation, meetings of the Village Water and Sanitation Committees are being organized at the village level. In these meetings, proposals are being passed for the construction of necessary structures for rainwater harvesting, and the villagers are also conducting physical verification of these structures.

Two Jal Sanchayan Vahinis have been formed in each panchayat, and they are continuously encouraging the villagers to adopt water conservation measures.
