Minor Girl Dies After Alleged Rape and Found in Suitcase in Delhi’s Dayalpur

New Delhi — A nine-year-old girl tragically died after allegedly being raped and found stuffed into a suitcase in Delhi’s Dayalpur area, a police official reported on Sunday.

The girl was discovered unconscious in a suitcase on the second floor of a flat in Nehru Vihar on Saturday evening, hours after her family initiated a search following her sudden disappearance. The police said the suitcase was located in the flat, and she was found bleeding and in a critical condition.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East), Ashish Mishra, provided details about the incident. “At around 8:40 p.m. yesterday, we received a PCR call reporting a nine-year-old girl found injured,” Mishra stated. “When our team arrived at Gali No. 2 in Nehru Vihar, they found the girl in an unconscious state. She had been taken to the hospital by her father, where doctors declared her dead after preliminary examinations. Signs of sexual assault were observed during the medical assessment.”

A case has been registered at Dayalpur police station under multiple sections, including Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to murder, and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, which deals with aggravated sexual assault.

Following the discovery of the suitcase, crime scene investigators and forensic teams examined the location. Multiple teams have been deployed to trace the accused persons, utilizing CCTV footage collected from the vicinity.

The girl’s father expressed distress, stating, “We have not received any official information yet. We are on our way to the mortuary for her post-mortem. We will learn more once we are there, as the police have called us.”

The child’s disappearance was initially reported when she failed to return home after delivering ice to her aunt’s house on Saturday afternoon. The girl’s family later learned from neighbors that a man had allegedly taken her to his flat. When they reached the residence, the flat was locked, and the owner claimed the keys were with his brother.

Authorities broke open the lock and discovered the girl inside the suitcase, unconscious and bleeding. The police are continuing their investigation, working to identify and apprehend the suspect responsible for this heinous crime.
