Jaipur District Road Safety Committee Meeting Held; Officials Instructed to Fill Potholes for Driver Safety

Jaipur — The Jaipur District Road Safety Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional District Collector (South Jaipur City), Mr. Santosh Kumar Meena. Considering the ongoing monsoon activity, the ADC directed officials from both municipal corporations and the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) to deploy mud pumps in areas where rainwater accumulates, ensure proper drainage, clean drains, and fill road potholes without delay.

He also instructed that, out of the 23 black spots identified by the NHAI (National Highways Authority of India), those that no longer require further work after temporary improvements should be inspected by a joint team of the Executive Engineer from the Public Works Department and the DCP (West). The team has been asked to submit its report within 15 days, emphasizing the seriousness and urgency of the matter.

To avoid repeated road cutting inconveniences for the public, departments were asked to coordinate road digging work related to water supply, electricity, and sewer lines among themselves.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Mr. Sumeet Mehra emphasized that toll agencies must deploy sufficient staff at all toll booths to ensure smooth toll collection from drivers. Staff should be assigned for every shift at all booths to avoid unnecessary delays or discomfort to commuters. He also called for clean and hygienic toilet facilities to be made available at toll plazas for the safety and convenience of drivers.

The DCP recommended that good Samaritans who help transport accident victims and passengers to hospitals in time be honored and recognized. Their efforts should be promoted widely through hospital posters, ambulances, black spot stickers, and other publicity tools.

The ADC further instructed that regular action be taken across both urban and rural areas for violations such as not wearing helmets or seatbelts, over-speeding, using mobile phones while driving, lack of under-run protection devices on vehicles, unauthorized parking on highways, and absence of reflective tapes.

Additional directives were issued to take legal action against unlicensed drivers, form and activate road safety clubs, ensure safety of cyclists, maintain caution during school entry and exit hours, and enforce provisions under the “Bal Vahini Yojana” (School Transport Scheme).

Present at the meeting were SE PWD Mr. R.K. Singh, along with officials from the Police Department, Traffic Police, Jaipur Development Authority, National Highways Authority, Health and Medical Department, Transport Department, and Public Works Department.
