CM Vishnu Deo Sai Visits Flood-Affected Areas of Bastar, Directs Officials to Expedite Relief and Rehabilitation Work
Raipur, Sept 2025 : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai conducted both aerial and ground surveys of the flood-affected districts of Bastar division, including Dantewada and Bastar, today. He reviewed the situation firsthand and took stock of the progress of ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures.
The Chief Minister emphasized that ensuring timely assistance to every flood-affected family is the state government’s topmost priority. He said sensitivity and prompt action at every level are essential to provide effective support.
At Churitikar Para in Dantewada, Mr. Sai visited a temporary relief camp where he interacted with affected families and listened to their concerns. He assured them that the government stands firmly with every victim. Directing the administration, he said that proper arrangements for food, clean drinking water, and safe shelter must be consistently maintained in all camps. He further instructed that immediate relief should reach all affected people and that rehabilitation work must be carried out on a priority basis without delay.
The Chief Minister also directed that along with basic facilities, adequate supplies of ration, utensils, and clothing be provided to the affected families. He ordered timely financial assistance for house repairs or new construction where necessary. Mr. Sai asked collectors and revenue officials to conduct quick assessments of crop damage, livestock loss, and other damages caused by the floods, ensuring that suitable aid is extended to those affected.
Inspecting a damaged bridge, the Chief Minister reviewed traffic conditions and the status of reconstruction efforts. He instructed officials to ensure the speedy restoration of essential services such as roads, electricity, and drinking water in all affected villages. He made it clear that negligence in relief and rehabilitation work would not be tolerated. Mr. Sai stressed that while natural disasters like floods do bring hardships, with administrative preparedness and community cooperation, such challenges can be effectively overcome. He also instructed special care for children, women, and the elderly in relief camps and affected villages, with priority given to essential health and education services.
Inspection of Health Camps
Mr. Sai also visited a health camp set up in the area. He reviewed the availability of medicines, deployment of doctors, and the provision of primary healthcare services. Interacting directly with affected families, he asked whether they were satisfied with the administration’s support. The people expressed satisfaction with the prompt response of the district administration.
The Chief Minister sought detailed information from officials regarding health check-ups, treatment of the sick, and the availability of essential medicines for the flood victims. He instructed that regular health services be provided in the camps until the situation normalizes. He further ordered continuous monitoring of possible post-flood diseases such as diarrhea and other waterborne illnesses and directed mandatory chlorination of all drinking water sources to prevent outbreaks.
Emphasizing public awareness, Mr. Sai urged people to consume only clean drinking water and maintain sanitation and hygiene. He also instructed the urban administration department to ensure regular cleanliness drives in affected wards.
